Favorite Sci-Fi Authors

With Christmas coming up, its time for me to start looking for gifts that I would like others to buy for me. Usually, this involves me going to Barnes and Noble and picking out a ton of books.

Im looking to get some good sci fi stuff this year, and I would like Author recommendations. So I was hoping you Sci-Fi groupies could give me your favorite Authors and a list of some of there best work. Here is my list [of books Ive read and are recommending to you]:

Orson Scott Card (my favorite Author):
1. Ender's Game
2. Speaker for the Dead
3. Xenocide
4. Children of the Mind
5. Homecoming

H.G. Wells:
1. The Time Machine
2. The Invisible Man
3. The War of Worlds

Isaac Asimov:
1. The Foundation Series

Ray Bradbury:
1. The Pedestrian
2. Farenheit 451

[Edit] MY 500th POST!

I will also have to go with Orson Scott Card. His Ender series is fantastic. I would add Ender's Shadow to your list. It's a very interesting parallel novel to Ender's Game.

I've heard that the Foundation series is also very good. One of my friends read it and gave it rave reviews. I think I'll have to read it sometime. I'm still stuck in the Star Wars EU (extended universe) though.

Timothy Zahn is my all-time favorite sci-fi author. He is one of the best, if not the best, star wars novel writers. He has created the Thrawn Trilogy as well as the Thrawn Duology. Both excellent series' if you're into the star wars EU.

I also like the writings of Micheal A. Stackpole, another Star Wars novelist. Responsible for many of the books in the X-Wing series.

But yeah, that's all for me right now.

That list that I posted is books that I already have that I was recommending to others.

Ive read all of the Ender series, and Ive read Ender's Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon, and Shadow Puppets, and I anxiously await the release of Shadow puppets.

I'll check out some of the Star Wars books that you mentioned.
