GameTavern - FFXI to have PvP

Which means Player Vs. Player for the people who don't know. Apparently, the game was always suppose to have PvP, right from the start of development. Although it seems that it won't become available until after the release of the PS2 version in March. I assume there'll be a level cap for PC gamers, and then when PS2 gamers reach that cap, the PvP will be available (it would allow PS2 gamers to actually have a fighting chance against PC players).

I don't think it'll be like EQ though where you compete with people and kill them whenever and where ever. It'll probably be some kind of mode in the game, or a tournament battle or sorts. If not, I know SE is very cautious about what PvP can create, so I assume there'll be some kind of restrictions, like say for example, if you want to fight some other player, that player has to agree to fight, rather than all out attacking anyone off guard whenever you wanted.

Should be cool.
