Raw 2 is the king of visuals
I guess the plastic screenshots do the game no justice in action... I think the game simply looks better than SD4, and it makes WM XIX's animation look like a complete joke.
http://sports.ign.com/articles/436/436820p1.html You should be able to find the videos from that link, and um, just as a warning, when I tried to play some on WMP it would stop pre-maturely, on a 5mbit connection that isn't supposed to happen... so if you have insider watch the QT videos instead of the WMP ones. it's a bit slower than SD and WM XIX, but that's a good thing imo... I can't wait to play it to pass final judgement. -EDIT- Oh, and Penguin, you can interfere with intros still :) Check out eddie's intro and pay close attention to the corner where it says press A to skip, it will change for a second. -EDIT2- Raw 2 is set to release on the 16th (ships the 15th) |
Re: Raw 2 is the king of visuals
I agree. I think that Anchor really did a good job this time, and it certainly looks a lot better than Yukes crap!

Re: Re: Raw 2 is the king of visuals
I think SD looks really good now... but it's simply not at Raw's level, not yet at least. XIX well, judge for yourself

Ahh, so much talk about wrestling game's graphics/animations. =-D Am I the only one who doesn't care what the game LOOKS like really? No amount of screenshots or videos can tell me how good/bad a wrestling game will be. I mean (I have to bring up No Mercy in every single wrestling game thread) if you saw a video of someone playing No Mercy, you probably wouldn't be too impressed. It's the feel of the game, the awesome controls, psychology you can incorporate into the game, and the straight out fun factor that makes No Mercy what it is. All the next gen wrestling games have good graphics, animations, entrances, etc. IMO, but that's just the little extras that don't matter much to me (well animation is different but I don't think the animation has gotten any better from old N64 games anyways) at all.

Re: Raw 2 is the king of visuals
Well, I'm looking at the flow of the match too in the videos... not only does it look the best, it looks like it may play the best... imo
I mean, in the N64/Psx days, SD looked more realistic, but it didn't look like it played as good, same with th acclaim games. No Mercy's flow of matches was perfect, and the animation was better than SD's too ;) But we'll see, I doubt any of the new 3 will do to this generation what No Mercy did to last generation, but out of the three I can see Raw coming the closest. (even though it could end up being awful, in that case I would go with SD because they are consistant with that game ;)) |
Re: Re: Raw 2 is the king of visuals
its because of the flexibility of the models,
when they have stiff models they are slow and have no 'flow' as you put it. the old SD games had stiff models and while the N64 ones had very loose flexible ones. game flows more because of it. I think they should make a wrestling game using the Soul Calibur 2 engine. |

when did i ever say that? I'll just take it as you have absolutly no clue on what i was talking about. It has nothing to do with what type of game it is. I said they should use the SC2 ENGINE, and make a wrestling game with it. |

What engine are you referring to? |

And I agree completely. That's why I don't really like the SD games, they seem way too arcadey and more like a fighting game than a wrestling game almost. Not as bad as Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game and In Your House or whatever it's sequal was called of course, as those actually WERE fighting games. |

The engine is the gameplay, to a certain extent. it does a lot of the basic code, graphics, collision detection, things like that. but it in no way decides how the game is handled. you'd be surprised how many games run on the same engine, you could get a FPS engine and make a car racing game if you wished. XIII, (the cel shaded FPS game) runs on the new Unreal Games engine. etc. The way im refering to it in this case is... SC2 has a wonderful colision detection, models are very flexable. Its in 3D so you can make it any view angle one wished to make. IMO, a basic engine like that would be wonderful in a wrestling game. instead of how some wrestling games are that look like your sliding a cardboard cut out around. sure they may look real, but they move like they have a 2x4 for a spine, (maybe the newer ones like RAW 2 im hoping will be much more flexible) |
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Raw 2 is the king of visuals
I get what you mean now...
Raw 2 looks good as far as that goes. XIX and SD errrr... Raw still may have the look in the end too, but it's not as obvious when I look at videos. |

Now that I know what you're talking about, that doesn't sound like a half bad idea. |
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Raw 2 is the king of visuals
I've decided to get more indepth with the comparisions (If you are an IGN insider you can see more, if you aren't well, only a few will work)
Raw: -Goldberg -The Rock -Stacy -Stone Cold XIX: -Goldberg (insider) -The Rock (insider, and don't pay too much attention to old music) -Stacy (insider) -Stone Cold (insider, and you'll have to sit through Goldust first) Smackdown: -Goldberg -The Rock -No Stacy sadly -Stone Cold These are just intros though... I will post some match comparisions later. Just looking at intro's what do you think though? Insiders will notice which game is far behind in this area ;) |
