NBC picks actress to play Jessica Lynch

Well this is great, let's go make a movie to show the American people this great happy-go-lucky war story. Good for you NBC, go make a movie off some BS hollywood story making Jessica Lynch a hero. I mean, don't bother looking at what really happened, because America wants to see Ms. Lynch as a hero. How about instead, you tell the real story? I think they should call it "How to Get Your Dumbass Captured 101." Let's take a look on why she was captured in the first place. The 507th took a wrong turn, and bumped into these lovely Fedayeen troops. Fedayeen, Republican Gaurd, I don't care how good CNN makes you want to think these guys are, they're good for Iraqi standards, good for arab standards, but they are utter **** compared to the US. Our Army troops should be able to destroy them. So why didn't the 507th? Good question. The 507th outnumbered the Fedayeen gun-for-gun. More guns, better trained soldiers, and they still got their ass handed to them. See, a slight problem arises when very few of those guns actually fire. Why? They were clogged with dust! Yes, the rifles were not properly maintained for use in a desert enviorment. Good job. 9 soldiers were killed, 5 captured. The rest ran away, led by their Captain. Yes, the officer left his troops behind and took off running. As for Jessica Lynch, the rescue was more or less walking into a building and bringing her unconscious ass out. 13 soldiers are dead. They are dead because they didn't properly maintain their weapons, and when they needed them, they failed. Their Captain ran off like a coward. But you know what? Instead of learning something from this situation to prevent it from happening again, let's turn Jessica Lynch into a real G.I. Jane. Let's tell these great war stories about her, and let's award her a Bronze Star. Let me tell you the story. Jessica Lynch was part of a unit who took a wrong-turn. When ambushed by Fedayeen troops, her weapon malfunctioned and she couldn't fight because of her injuries, most of which didn't come from the fight, they came from the crash of their vehicle. Then she was captured, and finally carried out nearly unconscious. And for that, she got a Bronze Star. It's an disgrace to all the men who actually earned the Bronze Star for valor. She got it by being captured in a fight they should've won. But go on NBC, make her into a hero. Tell a false story about her and make her America's poster child from the war. It's a disgrace to the real heroes of the war. // End Rant |

whoa...what a load of BS....

i agree with you completely gekko.... lynch is a fraud and a joke to the US army... kinda like the guy with the bullet holes in his helmet. they were put there when his helmet was not even on his head, then he makes it look like it protected his @$$. too much media BS.
did you know in boot camp they can no longer swear at the recruits? the US army is turning into a pampered POS, and relying wayy to much on technology, and not enough on well trained troops. if the troops were trained, we wouldn't have people jumping in front of live grenades, driving tanks off bridges and not knowing how to read a damn map...embarrassment when we kill more of our people than the enemy does. |
Re: NBC picks actress to play Jessica Lynch
If someone at a boot camp swore at me, I'd envision in my head me beating the **** out of them.

Now as for the Army, I'm not sure why they don't allow it. I do know they train different jobs seperatly. Ft. Jackson is a joke, no gaurds at the gate, they get to make a ton of phone calls home, they rarely yell at the recruits. It's the sadest thing I've ever seen. The rationale is they likely won't get yelled at during their jobs, so why do it to them now? Idiots. Guys doing grunt work are at a different base, and have it harder, thankfully. In today's military, in order to fill the ranks, they have made things softer, made it easier to get in. We live on a soft age, and most of the military has adapted to that. Thankfully, not my Marine Corps. A Marine supply convoy got ambushed in Iraq as well. Want to know why you didn't hear about it? Because in the Marines everyone is first and foremost a rifleman. They kicked the **** out of them and moved on. |

Holy sh*t, are you f*cking retarded or something? Who in their right-f*cking-mind signs up for the Canadian military? The American military... Okay. But never, EVER the Canadian military. That's f*cking horrible. You're a foolish, foolish boy. :distress: |

Swearing doesn't make better soldiers. My problem is that instead of changing ****ing to friggin, they make everything easier and less stressful. I don't get it. |
Re: NBC picks actress to play Jessica Lynch
hmm.... as much as you may think that Canada has a weak army, although we have small numbers, their trained VERY well. I'm not saying that american troops aren't, i'm simply saying that because there are fewer canadian troops, it makes them easier to train better. During WWII for example, Canadian troops were the shock troops of the war in many cases. And the special forces are trained in all terrains imaginable, from sweating heat, to the freezing Canadian North. This is all from research from school, granted taht it may be biased because i go to school in Canada but it still shows that even though we may not have been through everything the american army has, we still have a formidable army.

Re: NBC picks actress to play Jessica Lynch
Canada may have a, "nicely trained army," but at this point in time America has the most powerful and most well trained military in histoy. And that is a fact. It's no disrepect to Canada, but it's pretty cut and dry.

The Canadian army is very active in peacekeeping missions, but it's been many years since Canada has had to fight their own war, or do a majority of the fighting. Canada has the luxury of having the protection of the most powerful nation in the world. Canada can keep a very small army, but the US is forced to keep a large one, and to do that, the Army is trying to sell you on 101 ways to be a soldier without being in infantry, the Navy will let you travel the world and accelerate your life, and the Air Force will provide you with great training with technology when you cross into the blue screen of death :D The US has to fill its ranks, and to do that, you have to appeal to more people. That's the way things work. You forgot to mention Canadian snipers, which are very good. No Marine Corps snipers mind you, but they definetly some of the best. |

Straight up, Canada's military sucks. I hear they're well trained, but with next to no budget and such small numbers, they suck. Signing up for the Canadian military is retarded. Simple as that. |
