Great blurb in the Chicago Sun-Times.
It's actually about a week old.
Our friend is their friend News Item: President Bush issues warning to the world, saying, "My message is that if you harbor a terrorist, you're a terrorist. If you feed a terrorist, you're a terrorist." News Item: Bipartisan investigation concludes that the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks were supported by a network of Saudis in the United States and "seemingly unlimited funding from Saudi Arabia." Hmm. |
Re: Great blurb in the Chicago Sun-Times.
President Bush means that if you knowingly harbour terrorists, you are a terrorist. Not if you have a terrorist on your land who you don't know about... I thought that was pretty obvious...

they are them. I believe the number is 20 out of 25 of the 9/11 hijackers were saudis, not to mention countless other atrocities that the saudi's have committed both globally and domestically. And then they run those vomit inducing "United States and Saudi Arabia" commercials. Funny, you think it might have something to do with oil? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm |

What's your point? Quote:
I must've read it wrong. I actually agree with Stonecutter. |
I agree. The United States needs to hold Saudi Arabia accountable for their past and current indescretions. In this case I do agree that it is about oil. Its also all our fault.
The United States, and even the entire Western world has GIVEN the Middle East the power and ability to terrorize. We have allowed ourselves to be dependent on their fuel to the point that the very oil we buy pays for the terrorists and and weapons that are later used against us. Where do you think the Middle East would be without Western dollars buying their oil? Most likely they would be what Afghanistan is currently. A third world nation. We have essentially given barbarians the ability to be barbaric. Before anyone starts screaming at me for being politically incorrect, lets look at one simple fact. The Middle East is filled with nations with nearly UNLIMITED natural resources, and look at their track record. Its one of religious and political oppression and constant battles in the name of Allah, who in their own religion finds violence abhorrent. When the history of the world is written, The Middle East will be recorded as a massive failure. Unlimited resources with NOTHING to show for it but waste and ruthlessness. |
Re: Great blurb in the Chicago Sun-Times.
hmmm... I wonder where that money is coming from.. but the worst is the new Patriot 2 bill... letting one man override the courts... :sighs:
|
Please explain the Patriot 2 bill, I haven't heard of it. If its giving the ability for the President to overturn the judicial system, then thats a HUGE issue. Checks and balances were put into place for a reason.

As of now... The Middle East has so much potential, it's a shame that they don't realize it. |
Re: Great blurb in the Chicago Sun-Times.
If the Middle East had no oil they would be Africa. They aren't so bad...

Discount the last 1000 or so years and the history of the world IS the middle east. The entire region was the richest and most technologically advanced for the majority of the history of the world. Europe and Asia were at the mercy of the middle east for quite a long time. All the trade routes went through the middle east and the countries made sure that they profited off of all of it. Silk, salt, gold, spices, food, everything that went from europe to asia or vice versa went through the middle east for a long damn time. |

So does that mean that all celebrities are Canadian? NO. Canadians are also responsible for countless other well-meaning initiatives in the world - food and water in Africa, peacekeepers in war-torn countires, good things both globally and domestically. Does that mean that all people who do good in the world are Canadian? So, how on earth can you take 20 out of 25 hijackers and say that all Saudis are terrorists? Indeed, I find the fact that the Saudi gov't hasn't been all that straightforward about terrorism troubling - but calling an entire country terrorists? How wrong is that? Isn't it also troubling that in the recent 9/11 report your US gov't blacked out PAGES detailing Saudi involvement? What's Mini-Bush got to hide? |
