To firewall or not to firewall...
In a game of WarCraft 3, I tried to make a game and invite a friend to it. He couldn't join me, there was something with a firewall blocking it.
Now we know it wasn't his firewall. I am able to join HIM. So I can't act as a server. My firewall blocks that. The problem is: I am not aware of any firewall on my computer. I have PC-cillin, but I disabled the firewall. What other program has a built-in firewall?? I have Windows XP, does that have a firewall?? How can I deactivate it??? :( Thanks!! :) |
Re: To firewall or not to firewall...
in your network settings in XP.
if you goto properties on like Local Area Network or something. then click on advanced. there is a 'Protect this computer blah blah blah' option there. thats basically the XP firewall and yes it will block ppl from connecting to you in games. |

Great! :D I knew it was something simple...
Thanks! :p |
Internet Connection Firewall.
Xp's firewall is extremely standard. I got Norton Internet Security, which is extremely useful |
Re: To firewall or not to firewall...
I think I'll get ZoneAlarm, or shouldn't I?

A long time ago on my old computer I had Zone Alarm for a while, I ended up deleting it, and that was when my computer went to ****. Had to re-formatt my entire hard drive. Maybe it wasn't Zone Alarm's fault, but it sure seemed like it was...*shrugs* |
Re: To firewall or not to firewall...
hate firewalls that run on the system. takes up system resources. i prefer setting up and outside firewall.
