Laser Mouse Problem

Ok, I will be happily gliding my mouse along my computer screen and it will suddenly stop. During that time I am unable to move it. After a few seconds I am able to move it again. I am using a Microsoft laser mouse. Any ideas?

Maybe your computer is freezing. Or the mouse sucks. Then again, I'm using a Microsoft laser mouse, and it works fine. I think Null likes logitech or something... Try one of those.

By the way, do you think shining that laser from the mouse into your eye does anything bad? Or is the laser probably not powerful enough?

It's the mouse. I tried an identical mouse from my other computer and it worked perfectly. Guess I'll have to buy a new one.

And I don't think the laser is powerful at all.

first of all..its not a god damn laser!!!!

dumb people...everyone sais it's lazer...its not...it's an LED (Light Emiting Diod) like a small lightbulb thingy that lights up when it heats up...

anyway...i use a Ms optical mouse and it works fine...check if you have anything stuck like a peice of hair or something on the bottom...other then that i dont know what the prblem could be...maybe a wire or somthing thats not connected properly...

actually its an optical sensor.

the light and the sensor are actually 2 differnt things in there. :p

And yes. i GREATLY prefer logitech mice over MS ones...

i bought a cheap $15 2 button Logitech optical used it for a while. its now at work. over 5 years old. dirty as hell. beat beat around. smacked and thrown around. droped off the desk countless times. still going strong without any probs

right now i use MX500 8 button logitech mouse....my 2nd computer has a Duel Optical logitech mouse.

none ever had any probs. *knocks on wood :D *

What kind of connetion are you using with it? PS/2 or USB ? and or adaptor ?

IMO it sounds more like a driver problem then the actual mouse it self. altho it very well could be the mouse. tried reinstalling any drivers that came with it or try going to its website? Or when it does it.... if you press the windows key on your keyboard. does the menu pop up right away? (just a way to test if its the computer locking up)

a hair would make it jitter perhaps. not lock up tho.

I, too, am using a logitech opitcal mouse (two button, wheel, candy apple red.)

Over a year and a half, no problems.

But you need to download a file to get the scroll to work with games.

Hmm it stops? Did it come with a driver? Is it wireless?

I have a Microsoft Optical mouse ( the one with the customisable 2 left hand side buttons (for skipping back and forth on the net). Very handy!

I have absolutely no complaints with it. It's perfect.
