Official Mario 128 Discussion

:GC: Here is what IGN has posted :

"June 20, 2003 - The latest issue of Japan's Nintendo Dream magazine is apparently home to good news for Mario fanatics who were a bit disappointed with Mario Sunshine. According to the magazine, Nintendo's upcoming Mario 128 title is being built around a new idea that's never before been seen in a game. Apparently, Nintendo refrained from putting the title on display at E3 in order to prevent it from being stolen.
Nintendo development grand daddy Shigeru Miyamoto has gone on record (with Japan's Playboy magazine, of all things) stating that Mario 128 will feature a freshness that was lacking from Mario Sunshine. We presume this is what he was referring to."

What does this all mean??? What do you think the game is going to be about, and what kind of "differences" are there going to be. What is the "Fresh" ideas? Post it all here! :guitar:

Hmm, 4D? I'd like to see them pull that off.

Well, it's intriguing. And I hope they have something left for Mario 256!

So are they implying Mario had that not-so-fresh feeling in Mario Sunshine? That's really Mario's business, not anyone else's.

Wait wait wait! Shiggy goes to Playboy and says that the new Mario will have freshness. I think we all know what this means. The next Mario game will be...A PIMP SIMULATOR!

They think that their idea would get stolen? HAHA... would that actually happen?

Look at Mario Party and Mario Kart. Those 2 ideas alone have spawned many ungood results. But thats all about multi and not single (im starting to get confused). But I think Canyarion speaks in something that might be true. Mario and Luigi starring in a game together that IS good. (Tries not to remember the SNES days of co-op mario/luigi) Or something else....

What?

Anyways, I suppose i can see why they wouldnt want their idea stolen. I mean, look at Zelda, they introduce cel shading into the gaming world, and suddenly all the new games are cell shaded...interesting...

I'm not really going to make a comment on that phrase...

Umm... Cel-shaidng was introduced long before Wind Waker and a lot of the cel-shaded games coming out were announced around the same time as Wind Waker, too soon for it to have been taken form WW.

Also, considering the bad reaction to Wind Waker's cel-shading, I seriously doubt that other companies would decide to make their games cel-shaded games because of it.

*shrugs and walks away*

I think not announcing something because you're afraid of having your idea stolen is stupid... If it's a good idea, it will probably be copied in one way or another eventually, and you'll probably still get your game out first... And even if you didn't, in Nintendo's case the other game would probably be on another system, so how would it effect sales in any way? Plus there are ways to show stuff from the game without revealing too much...

It's madness I tells ya... MADNESS!!

Depends what it is, and when they expect to have this game finished.

I mean, look at Blinx. It's only claim to fame was the ability to control time. If a couple months before its release, Nintendo or Sony were able to produce an adventure game allowing the same thing, Blinx wouldn't have held the hype until its release.

GameKinG 06-22-2003 09:00 PM

Ideas are taken all the time. I guess Nintendo wanted to make sure they were the first to release their idea, cause some company could make a quick copy and beat them to it. By releasing as little info as they can before the release, they can secure their idea as theirs.

Re: Official Mario 128 Discussion

The game must be in it's really early stage. Otherwise a company wouldn't be able to produce a half decent game before mario is released.

Well, as long as it's better than sunshine, i'm happy.
