The Official End of an Era
http://www.gamers.com/news/1392909
Famicom was still in production until now, and will cease production. |
Why the hell are they still wasting the money on those things? I mean, it's cool that they're still being made but I can't imagine they're selling very well. There's so many NESes just piled up in the backs of funcolands. I'm sure the same thing happens in japan wth the famicom (though I would bet that the japanese hold onto it and are less prone to the impulse buying/selling/trading of games/systems that we have here in the US.) The matierals to make the things is probably close to free but the labor cost are probably hurting the company. Even if it's not that big of a deal you still have to wonder why they're throwing money away like that.

The still sell brand new NES consoles in North America? I was unaware of that.
I thought that the Famicom was stopped of production a couple a years ago... all my gaming resale stores haven't gotten them in years

They were probably making one every week.
Or one a month, lol. I would definately buy a brand new NES... But old one isn't working too well.
Like they stated in the article, maybe Nintendo will introduce a new design to commemerate (very bad spelling) the 20th anniversary. Then we can all re-visit the days and not worry if the game will work or not:D
I could use a new Famicom, mine is busted.
They hadn't been making NESs though have they? I want a new one... They're so groovy and mine is funked... And emulators suck compared to the actual thing... :(
Im sure they make them to demand, and that likely wasnt much.
You can probably buy a new (that is to say, not used) NES in NA, but for many it would be hard to find, like me... |
