Urine question
I went pee today at school, and it was like really really yellow. I was thinking about this, and I realized that I hadn't drank too much liquid during the day. I also remember that on my workout days, I drink a lot of water, and my urine looks like water almost.
Does anybody know how this works? I was kind of thinking that maybe urine is originally yellow, but when you drink more water, it because more diluted or something, and loses its colour. Any science/bio guys know the answer? |
The darker the urine, the more water you need. Ideally your urine should be a pale yellow or clear. Remember, you're supposed to drink 10 8 oz glasses of water a day. I doubt most of us come close to this.
Unless you take a men's Multi-vitamin, then your pee will peel wallpaper no matter how much water you drink:D |
Normal urine color is yellow. Pale urine color means you have drank a large amount of water. Urine may also be brown because large amounts of blood are present.

Urine's a fun thing, isn't it?

When it's yellow, that's all the "bad stuff" your body has filtered out of you.
When it's clear, that is good, that means your body used all the liquids you took in. Sounds like your drinking too many of those phony sports drinks to me Joeiss. :p |
Technically if you see yellow in your urine you are dehydrated and need to drink water. I learned that in Boy Scouts before I got kicked out.

Yes, clear pee is good pee. Drinking a reasonable amout of water (milk does the same thing) keeps your kidneys flushed, which is a good thing. Yellow urine is very concentrated in bad stuff, so the goal should be to... not... have yellow pee, I guess.
Drinking a lot of water will also prevent gallstones, which I've heard are hella-painful to "pass". AND, they cut up the inside of your bladder, thus making you pee blood (which would probably be scary), resulting in another reason to avoid gallstones by drinking a lot of water. Yes yes, now I remember -- gallstones are caused by calcium build-ups, and water keeps the calcium flushed out (by way of your urine) so it doesn't have a chance to build up and cause you a bunch of trouble. |
If you use multi-vitamins, usually your pee is really yellow anyways no matter how much water you drink because of all the extra unused minerals and vitamins in your body.
