Never thought i'd see this...
Nintendo on top in the US
News Nintendo of America currently has the best-selling console game, portable games, and hardware system in North America. Nintendo of America is currently dominating video game sales in North America after three hit product launches in recent weeks. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is currently the best-selling console game after more than 600,000 copies were preordered, and the latest Pokémon games, Ruby and Sapphire, have dominated portable game sales since their release on March 17. On the hardware front, Nintendo's new Game Boy Advance SP is also flying off the shelves, with no fewer than 800,000 consoles already sold in North America alone. "While no one will know the champion of this season's college basketball tournament until next week, the winner of this spring's video game tournament is Nintendo," said Peter MacDougall, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Nintendo of America. "Game Boy Advance SP, Zelda, and Pokémon represent a three-point play that players and retailers dream about." "At what is traditionally a slow time of the year for video games, Nintendo has seized the sales initiative," said Richard Simone, video game buyer, Toys "R" Us. "With their blockbuster products--Game Boy Advance SP, The Legend of Zelda, and Pokémon--they're a big part of why video games are one of the truly bright spots at retail." I bought all three products. Glad to hear Nintendo is doing so well.
|
I said this when someone posted about the huge Zelda pre-orders, but I doubt they'll stay on top long... *shrugs* But it's nice to see that people are actually buying the game (which is a great game) and not just letting it sit there on the shelf...

I am glad to see this, Nintendo needs it.
|
They deserve it this time around. Zelda+Metroid+Skies Of Arcadia= must haves. SO how can you say NO to a Gamecube??
|
I think it is excelent news. Its a real kick in the teeth for the people that said nintendo were going down.
:GC: :Nintendo: :link2: |
i doubt this lasts very long at all....
|
I saw this coming. I don't care if it only lasts for a little time. At least Nintendo is finally getting somewhere in the US.
|
But I thought Nintendo was going Third Party...
:D |
Good news indeed.
Oh Zelda has been sent from EBworld. Those guys are the biggest dumbasses. *goes to make a topic* |
Short lived, likely, but lived at least.
|
You guys do realize that this is a press release, right? Hey, I understand the celebration. I'm a Nintendo fan, so I won't say that I don't care what happens. But I don't trust press releases. They're written by people who are paid to fool you as best as they can. Let's wait until we get some NPD data or something, shall we?

I wouldnt doubt it. Its not as if its a shock. Zelda had many, many preorders, GBA + light = success, and Pokemon is a given.

It's pretty much a given that Zelda, GBASP and Pokemon have all had success... |
