The next who sold more topic!........Network Adapter's
It would seem Sony do not want Microsoft to seem like it's doing well with it's Xbox Live By today saying that it had distributed over 600,000 network adapter world wide. Where as Microsoft has said it has SOLD 350,000 units in the US and Japan in far less time.
Seeing as Sony has had far more time and many millions more PS2's out there I don't really think they have too much to shout about (IMO that is). |
Distributing something and having something sold are 2 different things. If I was Company X and we were selling F Product and my competition was Company Y and they were selling G Product, I could say, "We have shipped 2 million F Products to stores" (not mentioning how many have actually been SOLD). And Company Y could say "We have sold 1.5 million G Products". There's a difference there. So Sony is failing at trying to make MS think they are lagging behind.

600,000 shipped > 350,000 sold.
but does it really matter? |

Well I guess we could say people were playing Tony Hawk 3 online for 18 months now without the need of OFFICIAL modems or adapters.
But really... the is only a very small amount of people who will go online in the long run. I'd like to see how many of those 350,000 X-Box subcriser will be there one year from now, and how many of the PS2 adapter owners won't have their's gathering dust. I'm not a believer in the success of pay to play online. |
This is more media PR than anything.
I know for a fact the Xbox Live service is being used much more than the PS2 one though. |
So basically.. for every one you see in the store, there's another one set up with someone's Xbox. That seems about right.

Support staff in the UK get around £17,000.00 a year so 25 of them would cost £425,000.00 a year. level makers art people and programers cost up forum £25,000.00 each so 15 of them would cost £375,000.00 a year. So thats at lest £800,000.00 a year (It would be alot more in real life). Thats not even with the cost of the servers the rent on the office and other tax's (If you did not know thats $1,282,828.57 US a year). IMO I feel Microsoft has done a really good job so far online I like there service alot and being BB only has sorted alot of lag problems. About the only thing I don't like is the fact compays that do not wish to use Microsoft servers can not use there own but thats a problem for the devs to sort out. |
I got a feeling this will be as lame as the
X-Box live sales>Zelda sales in Japan |
Well, Sony has officially sold 500,000 online kits, Microsoft has sold 350,000, and Nintendo (believe-it-or-not), has sold 300,000 all worldwide.
Considering the amounts of console sales in the millions for each company, this is pretty lackluster for the hype this whole online craze is getting these days. -Official Ninja of [coming soon]... |
