20 Days To Game Boy Player

At least in Japan, but that's all that matters if you have a Spice Cube :D

I can't wait. I haven't played much GBA because I hate playing on a portable system. But at last, my dream comes true. GCN + GB Player = Heaven on Earth. It's every old skool gamer's dream, 2D games and old ports all on the big screen. Almost the entire Mario, Zelda, DK and Metroid series will be playable, and the entire Wario series is playable.

Mario
Super Mario Land (GB)
Super Mario Land 2 (GB)
Super Mario Bros (Mario Bros DX - GBC)
Lost Levels (Mario Bros DX - GBC)
Super Mario Bros 2 (Mario Advance - GBA)
Super Mario World (Mario Advance 2 - GBA)
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (Mario Advance 3 - GBA)
Super Mario Sunshine (GCN)

Missing:
Super Mario Bros 3
Super Mario 64

Wario
Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land (GB)
Wario Land II (GBC)
Wario Land III (GBC)
Wario Land 4 (GBA)
Wario Woods (Animal Crossing - GCN)*
Wario World (GCN)

* NES version of the game. SNES is the same with different graphics.

Metroid
Metroid (Metroid Fusion - GBA)
Metroid II (GB)
Metroid Fusion (GBA)
Metroid Prime (GCN)

Missing:
Super Metroid

Zelda
Link's Awakening DX (GBC)
Oracle of Seasons (GBC)
Oracle of Ages (GBC)
A Link to the Past/Four Swords (GBA)
Ocarina of Time (GCN)
Ocarine of Time: Master Quest (GCN)
Wind Waker (GCN)

Missing:
Legend of Zelda
Zelda II
Majora's Mask

Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong (e-Reader)
Donkey Kong Jr. (e-Reader)
Donkey Kong 3 (Animal Crossing - GCN)
Donkey Kong Land (GB)
Donkey Kong Land 2 (GB)
Donkey Kong Land 3 (GB)
Donkey Kong Country (GBC)

Missing:
Donkey Kong Country 2
Donkey Kong Country 3
Donkey Kong 64

Of course, it helps when half the series is on GB. But what does the combo do for old games?

NES
Metroid
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. 2
Lost Levels
Excitebike
Tennis
Pinball
Balloon Fight
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong Jr.
Donkey Kong 3
Mario Bros.
Baseball
Ice Climber
Urban Champion
Dr. Mario
Yoshi's Cookie
Tetris
Golf
DK Jr. Math
Clu Clu Land
Wario Woods
Soccer
Clu Clu Land D
Punchout

SNES
Zelda: Link's Awakening
Super Mario World
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Donkey Kong Country

Genesis
Golden Axe
Ecco the Dolphin
Sonic
Sonic 2
Sonic 3
Sonic & Knuckles
Sonic 3D Blast
Sonic Spinball
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
Phantasy Star
Phantasy Star II
Phantasy Star III

And this isn't even counting some of the old arcade games by Namco. Best part is, I already own most of these games. Gamecube + Game Boy Player + e-Reader = *faints*

Sexy!

Woah... I never really looked at the GBA Player this way... That is really cool.

And... Will the player be kind of the like Super GameBoy? Like, it will add some colour to the GB games?

GameMaster 03-01-2003 06:28 PM

Can't Wario Woods be attained in Animal Crossing?

gekko 03-01-2003 06:31 PM

No idea which games come from AC.

BlueFire 03-01-2003 06:40 PM

Animal Crossing:

Golf
Tennis
Pinball
Donkey Kong
DK Jr. Math
Clu Clu Land
Excitebike
Balloon Fight
Wario Woods
Baseball
Soccer
DK Jr.
Clu Clu Land D
Donkey Kong 3
Punchout

And there were rumors that the Action Replay thing allows you to get The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros. I hope that's true..

gekko 03-01-2003 06:46 PM

Are those all NES games?

BlueFire 03-01-2003 06:49 PM

Yes.

gekko 03-01-2003 06:57 PM

Ok, 50 edits in, and they are added :D

GameMaster 03-01-2003 06:59 PM

GB games are region-free. However, the menus might be in Japanese.

Import shops are listing it at $59.99.

It's retail price is 5,000 yen, or $42 USD.

Of course :D Japanese players come in all 4 colors. That's why so many people are looking into importing.

PGC just heard that the GB Player will not require a boot disc. That means, it might be compatabile with non-modded Cubes. The menus might be in Japanese, but people want it to match.

But then again, Nintendo's site says it includes a startup disc. There have been conflicting reports. And perhaps you only need to use the startup disc once, therefore making it easy for people using Freeloaders to use it as well. Everything's still up in the air.

Also, things to note:

GB Player can't be used with the Q. Sucks for those guys. Wonder if the modem can be...

The games using the motion sensor catridge cannot be used (kinda obvious).

The games using the rumble cartridge should not be used.

GameMaster 03-01-2003 07:18 PM

*plays Kirby's Tilt n' Tumble*

*is tilting and shaking Gamecube*

But I can't wait to try my GB Camera out on it! :D

Also nice large chunkcs of other series, MegaMan got like 10 games (ok a bit less but eh), some Final Fantasy games, F-Zero, Mario Kart and some others.

It really is a neat feature, but I wondering if the link cable would still be needed.
