Avril Lavigne virus high risk/
 

Security experts are warning the recently discovered Lirva worm is spreading rapidly, thanks to the release of two new variants.
Panda Software is warning of two new variants to the Lirva worm, Lirva.B and Lirva.C. The new variants are very similar to the original Lirva worm which began infecting computers on January 6, with differences in the size of the infected file.

The release of three variants in a short period of time may cause confusion about naming the variants within the antivirus community.

Lirva claims to offer fan access to Avril Lavigne to encourage victims to run the file, and opens a Web page to Lavigne's site once it is active. It spreads through e-mail, IRC, ICQ and Kazaa, but does not appear to spoof the senders e-mail address.

E-mail services company MessageLabs has so far stopped around 20,000 copies of the Lirva virus from around the world, and has upgraded the threat to the 'high' level.

MessageLabs is also warning of a new virus, Sobig, that has 'big@boss.com' in the "from" field.

I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I heard deleting the email will initiate the virus aswel?

Doubt it. Viruses have to come through a macro, or be run on your computer. So anything that's not .exe or .doc, should be safe. Deleting it does not run it.

Solution: Don't give stupid people e-mail accounts.

i've been getting wierd emails from KOF and some screen saver files (*.scr) i've deleted all of them in fear of a virus...i don't know where they got my email or how...but i got alot of them recently...


as for this virus...if it only opens up apage in the net....it's not that harmful, is it?

usually people receive your email only if you sign up for websites, or sign up for things outside of the net, magazine updates, along with other junk that you can receive in emails, horoscopes, updated gaming news.... you get the idea, the list is long and obstruct..

unless i am mistaken they don't send more emails unless you open the first one...:confused:

Avril Lavigne is narsty. She does look like a 13 year old boy.

But that sucks about the virus...
