Losing faith in Nintendo? Read This!

http://www.cube-europe.com/newsphp/news.php?id=3039

Go there, read the WHOLE article about what C-E is thinking is gonna happen with Nintendo and the GameBoy Player. One thing that was interesting to me was the 1" missing in height to make the 'Cube an actual cube. But after that, I rekindled my faith in Nintendo. Not that it ever was doubting, but it went up. I hope what they are thinking is true!:D

He has seemingly predicted the future and the apocalypse.

Pokemon will control the world!

::Stares in complete awe:: I am a believer! That would be so ____ing awesome!! It all makes sense too. Why would they need to make the GBA player so big? Why would they need to have a boot disc for the GC? I agree, that would boost GC sales a lot. Oh god, I can't wait until December.

could someone give me the gist of the article, i'm too lazy to read it

Well first they say they think that the AGB add-on for NGC was planned all along because they called Gamecube a cube when it was an inch too short, and the add-on is an inch high :p

But then the main thing is online gaming I think... specifically pokemon... by hooking up the GBA game into the GBA NGC addon and getting online with the NGC's online capabilities, they could do something online with their big franchise thing... which would prolly sell quite a few GBA add-ons and NGCs as well...

And now I'll make some comments of my own :p

Although I'm not into pokemon, I think that giving GBA games online capabilities through NGC would be an awesome thing... Zelda anyone? That 4 player Zelda mode in LttP... playable online...

then there's another interesting note in the article I hadn't heard of before:

"It has been noticeable that ahead of this mysterious December announcement, so many of the big Japanese companies have started to throw their weight behind the GameCube. I think they have been given exclusive previews to this hardware, and know that Nintendo are sitting on a goldmine – and want to be part of the action. First was Square with Final Fantasy – with both GameCube and GameBoy versions planned which would tie in nicely. Now Capcom have announced 5 exclusive games, Konami have told us that we can expect a version of Pro Evolution Soccer, and have delayed a big announcement by a month (Metal Gear Solid anyone?)."

Metal Gear Solid would be nice, but y'know what I'd rather have (since we already have a nice MGS game this gen)? Castlevania... 2 Castlevania games on GBA so far, no console game... Make another Castlevania game that ties into an NGC version (3D or 2D, either way)... That's what I'd rather have...

Mesa just hopes it's true... even though I don't care about pokemon, the potential for GBA online stuff or developers doing more with the GBA/NGC connectivity because of this would be berry nice...

Anyways I think I got all that stuff right, maybe I be misunderstanding or something

I might like this idea if I was into pokemon more than I am, but still im very skeptical. As I have said before, I dont think Pokemon is as popular is it used to be. Even if it is, Pokemons primary audience, Kids, dont really care too much about online gameing? Do they? I could be wrong I guess...and it just dosent sound that fun to me...unless you can go around in a virtual online environment like a pokemon MORPG...kinda...but if its just like trading pokemon online, I see no big deal there...you can trade pokemon online big deal...I dont think people will care about that too much...but if you can actually battle other people in real time and such...It could be good.

I think you are wrong Jason. I think kids would love the concept of online gaming for Pokémon. Those of us who have followed the Pokémon series aren't really challenged. But opening up an online option would refresh the Pokémon craze we've all seen. And it would be an outlet for people who've beaten the game and want more competition. I can't wait! Please let this speculation be true! Please let Pokémon go online! How fun would it be to battle people all around the US? They could even create pre-written text that would be needed for a battle and translate so you play against other people all around the world! :beat: :boing: :beat: :shake:

And the parents would love to pay for an NGC with a GBA add-on so their kids can play even more pokemon!

cmon.. that doesnt get you excited at all??

GameMaster 11-19-2002 11:36 PM

Nintendo Beware!

Adding a price tag to the use of the internet for online gaming can and will kill your success. We like it free. Charge at your own caution.

TheGame 11-19-2002 11:53 PM

I read it... maybe it means everything, maybe it means nothing:

Pokemon Online:

I would love to see pokemon online... but not through that link up. They should just make the game for GCN instead of putting gamers through all that drama to get online with it. $39.99 game, $39.99 est. add on, and $34.99 for the modem.... $115 just to play a Gameboy game online? (nasty graphics and all)

That would suck... is it worth it? Maybe, but it isn't the best deal Nintendo could have given. Maybe they will release a MiniDVD version of the GBA game.

... I'm kinda with Stu on this one, I haven't gained any faith in them. But I do hope they make the best of this situation. I still forsee them leaving this generation in third place world wide.

No if you get excited you will be called a Nintendo fanboy indirectly.

Just remain calm and boring. Then it's ok. If you get excited about anything NIntendo, you are a fanboy.

But you can get excited about Xbox and Ps2 games then no problem :sneaky:
