Anyone know?

Anyone know how or where to download free PC games online? Because I heard my friend talking about how he got UT2003 for free by downloading online, I don't really want to do it actually, but one question....Is it legal?

Null 10-23-2002 09:38 PM

sorry, i must say tho. thats a stupid question.

of course its not legal...
whats the diff between that and going into a store, putting the game in your jacket and walking out?

i mean its only $40.... PC games have gone down in price.

it takes a very sad. CHEAP ASS person to go steal a game by downloading it when he could just go buy it.

If you know of a friend that has UT 2003, than find a way to burn a copy. Works everytime;):D

1. Does UT stand for Unreal Tournament?
2. You would also need a serial number along with the burned game.

TheBalrog86 10-24-2002 12:11 AM

Yeah, UT stand for Unreal Tournament, and I was just wondering

Null 10-24-2002 12:11 AM

1 yes, Unreal Tournament 2003

2. the serial is actually the easiest thing to get.

3. CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP. very lame way to get a game.

GameMaster 10-24-2002 02:27 AM

Really? They have ways of dealing with serial distributing. Like some software voids a serial number once its been used so it can't be distributed again. Maybe they don't go to that extent for a computer game...

You can walk into Wal-Mart, open a box, write down the number, and they won't even bother you most of the time.

Angrist 10-24-2002 08:58 AM

Hmm... sometimes the number is on the booklet and the booklet is not in the box.

Battle.net doesn't let 2 users share the same serial number. :)

jeepnut 10-24-2002 03:16 PM

This is correct, but if you are the first one to use the number...

Also, the likely hood of you meeting the person online who actually bought the game at the same time is, well...small.

Not that I'm advocating this.

Interesting side story. Many members of the gaming club at our school play the same game off of the same code for the same disc. No one wanted to buy it. So now, the company is offering to sell us product keys for like $5. I guess they just want to have a chance to make some money. Even if they have to let us get away with distributing their game.

My friend walked into a store and asked to see the cd case.. wrote down the number gave back the cd case and went home to install warcraft 3

I dont like to be cheap.. but i don thave a job right now... and my parents wont buy the game.. so .. well.. actually ive only downloaded one game.. and thats gta3

My half life and warcraft are perfectly legal.

TheBalrog86 10-24-2002 07:12 PM

If you did download those free games online, and its illegal, then will anyone finds out?

TheBalrog86 10-24-2002 07:12 PM

Also, I think its cheap and lame to get games that way, is there anyway for people to like tell on other people?
