Just a little poll and question about PS2 and it being plugged in...
Heh, I've had my PS2 for over a year, and I was lookin through my PS2 manual, I noticed that it said to unplug your PS2 when you dont use it. Well I haven't used my PS2 for a while, should I be unplugging my PS2 when I'm not using it? Is it safe to leave the PS2 plugged in all the time even when you dont use it?
And do you ever unplug your Ps2? (answer this in the poll) |
*shrugs*... I keep it plugged in all the time... And I keep it on all the time (just in the sleepy mode)...
Although I hear where you're not going to use it for long periods of time (say a couple weeks or more, like if you go on a long vacation or something) it's best to turn it off by the switch on the back... I dunno about necesarily unplugging it altogether, but whatever O.o |
I always keep it plugged in, but I always turn it off in the back after I'm done...I figure it would be detrimental to the health of the system if it's on, even in sleepy mode. Maybe I'm just paranoid... :hmm:

Although I dunno why they didn't just make it a normal power button O.o |
I have it plugged in with my GameCube the whole time

I leave it plugged in all the time, and on stand-by, or 'sleepy' mode

even if i wanted to unplug it when i'm not using it, that would involve getting off my bed, walking over to my PS2, reaching my hand behind it and pulling out the plug. and lets face it, i'm a lazy bastard. but the strange thing is, i can always manage to get up and turn off the power from the back everytime i'm done using it...

I think it says the same thing in the Gamecube manual...I think its due to risk of electric shock or something like if your house gets struck by lightning, if you have you PS2 or GC plugged in it would probably fry it or something...could be another reason though.
|
Well the problem with PSX was that due to ****ty design, it would continue to use electricity, even when turned off. This is what caused so many of them to overheat and stop working properly.

I leave it plugged all the time. I always do that with the systems. I have never had a system damaged because of that. *Shrugs*

I leave my PS2 plugged in all the time. I did not know about this before, but I play my PS2 everyday, so I guess it doesn't really affect me.
And I always click the back switch off when I am done using my PS2. I don't know why. Just a habbit I guess. |
Mine's always plugged... I think Sony really did a bad job on the PS2... I mean, I have had it for a year and treated it perfectly and it's messed up. Messed up meaning some games don't work, it makes some loud noises on some games, and no PS1 games work on it. All my games are in perfect condition. I never did anything bad to my PS2. I clean it often without and liquid.
My main point is that PS2's mess up fast and for no reason. |

How do you turn your system off? And do you leave games in it when then system is off? Cuz I hear you're supposed to take games out when the system isn't on... And most of the time you can just use the sleep button because using the power switch in the back everytime you play it (especially if you play it quite frequently) can be hard on the system... *shrugs* Or maybe you have a faulty unit... or something... |
Its usually unplugged i dont use it much.
