ok, and what kinda CRT would be best? a is there a CRT that will work with that damned digital plug on my gfx card ?

No, there are (to my knowledge) no CRT's that support DVI. Mind you, since every TFT I've seen won't support res higher than 1280 by 1024 via the DVI, I would consider this totally useless ATM.
If you going to go for a proper gaming CRT, make sure it has a nice small dot pitch (about 0.25 is as large as you want to go - the smaller the better), and can support decent res at 75 Hz. The monitor I'm sitting in front of now is a 21" monster that does 100 Hz at 1600 by 1200, and it's great. Of course, if you only play your games at 1024 by 768, then this is the highest res you need go at. Personally though, I can't stand any desktop environment which doesn't have at least 1280 by 1024... my home setup currently runs 4 virtual desktops on two monitors, with a combined res of 2560 by 2048. I love lots of desktop real estate... If you're looking for a nice CRT manafacturer, IBM and Iiyama are two makes I am very comfortable with. |
see im having a bit of trouble finding these better monitors.
altho i did find a 19" that said dot pitch of .20 but i couldnt find anyone who could tell me the Hz of it. i tried to look it on the screen but it was locked. highest Hz i found so far was 76 on a Sony Trinitron FD, So you order these off the net? (obviously you can.) but is there any stores that are really good for carrying monitors? |
