Donkey----------Kong?
An interesting thought came to my head, why is donkey kong called donkey kong. Think about it, it really makes no sense. A kong is I guess an apelike creature...but you put Donkey on the front and what do you have? Half-Donkey, Half-Kong? Some deformed creature? Or is it really a hairy human with a first name of Donkey and a last name of Kong?

You know, you have a good point there.... This is one of those questions where there is no true answer to... Like why is the sky blue...? Or why does sex feel so good...?
Probably Miyamoto was on drugs when he named him. |
Initially it was a mistake based on language, but I don't remember the whole story.

Hmm, I thought I heard that Miyamoto named it Donkey Kong on purpose...Kong because that would signify a gorilla and donkey, just because donkeys are stubborn....I have a book that explains this all, but I can't find it right now, I'll post the actual quote when I find it.
|
Well, from what I heard, Miyamoto originally thought "donkey" meant "stubborn", and it all went wrong frm there.
But you have to take into account that I am exceedingly drunk, andf therefor eanunreliable tingumywehatsit for hessrasay. Blah. |

Donkey- pl. donkeys n. the ass, Equas asinus// (pop.) a stupid person [perh. rel. to DUN brownish]
Kong- ??? Putting these two words together, it would seem as though Donkey Kong is supposed to be a mysterious dumb ass...or something like that. Oh and, Crono_Link, there is a reason as to why the sky is blue. The blue color of the sky is due to Rayleigh scattering. As light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths pass straight through. Little of the red, orange and yellow light is affected by the air. However, much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by the gas molecules. The absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky. Whichever direction you look, some of this scattered blue light reaches you. Since you see the blue light from everywhere overhead, the sky looks blue. As you look closer to the horizon, the sky appears much paler in color. To reach you, the scattered blue light must pass through more air. Some of it gets scattered away again in other directions. Less blue light reaches your eyes. The color of the sky near the horizon appears paler or white. I hope you feel stupid now :burger: Oh my friggin Christ, why did I waste so much time typing this!? |

Why is bowser called Bowser? He's not a dog so...
King Koopa would have been fine here in the U.S. ... |
Actually, from what I heard, sdt's actually right... Donkey Kong suposedly meaning "stubborn monkey". Well, so even in a drunken stuper Pika has things to say... waaho.
|
Yep that's what I heard. :)
|
Anyways, back to wondering why Bowser is called Bowser instead of King Koopa...
|
I thought he chose donkey because he thought it meant stupid...oh well I was close.
