Gamecube is on top!

According to Toys R Us sales, Gamecube beat PS2, and Crushed X-Box in hardware sales, not to mention, SMS sales demolished all other game sales, selling over 30,000 more than its nearest competitor. But its just Toys R us...so...yea...

Well thats good to hear, even if it is only from Toys R Us.

D-realJos 09-02-2002 03:27 PM

yeah.. great to hear.

That's SMS pushing consoles, baby!

Bond 09-02-2002 03:43 PM

First of all, if it's only from Toys 'R' Us it means completely nothing. Also, it's only for one week, not a lot of time.

It means that it sold 30,000 more than any other game... and it also means that it sold 40,000 games... it also means that gamecube sold more consoles than any other system....

from a really large chain of stores...

Perfect Stu 09-03-2002 12:12 AM

although this is good news for Nintendo, I doubt the sales will stay this high on a consistant (meaning for months) basis. call me 'touchy' but I think the odds are with me.

and did anyone expect anything different? it's-a-Maaaario, after all ;)

TheGame 09-03-2002 12:28 AM

This is a good sign... imagine if it didn't have all those gay advertizements how much better it would have sold. Zelda is coming around the corner too!!!

Hopfully Sony doesn't let the price wars kill Nintendo's fun. :sneaky: :p

Star Fox goes after that and then PSOver1&2, Resident Evil 0, Wario World, and Metroid Prime. And I think they have some more coming after that. I donīt think that its sales will drop much (if they do). So, I disagree. I canīt imagine the GC not doing good with that lineup.

It's only one chain of stores though. One game could be popular at another chain of stores. This really is not accurate for a whole count.

it wont be coming out til feburary and theres an very good chance of delay. I predict a fall 2003 release for the US, it just seems too early for a zelda game to come out so soon as christmas (which is when shiggy initially said it would be released in north america). It doesnt even have an official name yet.

Advertisements? I never even saw that one people were talking about that sounded bad. They must have disconitued it because all I see is a commercial with JUST game-play footage.

Drunk Hobbit 09-03-2002 10:21 PM

Yes it was discontinued. And good thing too.

Xantar 09-04-2002 12:39 PM

For all we know, this could be because Toys R Us customers tend to be young (the store sells action figures and Play-Doh, after all) and so does the GameCube audience.

Of course, we don't know whether Toys R Us customers skew towards the younger demographic, and we don't know that GameCube owners tend to be younger. But they very well could be.

GameKinG 09-04-2002 10:21 PM

Well, even I bought the game at Toys R Us. The other stores in the area (Best Buy, Walmart) sold out. :(

I see a lot of older gamers shop there. And you can tell me PS2 and XBox dont make big sales there. Ive seen empty shelves for them.
