Black Project change plus a look to the future
 

Rent will no longer be charged for access to the Black Project forum. Instead, a one-time 500 doubloon fee will get you permanent access. This will do away with all the confusion associated with who owes rent when. Current BP members are exempt from the fee. The other requirements for gaining access still stand.

So, I said something about the future. Sorry I'm a little distracted right now. Ever seen "Trigger Happy" on Comedy Central? This show is friggin hilarious! Anyway, uh in the future, sometime, we'll be upgrading to vbulletin 3. There is a working version up right now, but the beta won't be available to the public for couple months. Here are some of the features we can look forward to:

• Quick registration system...username, password, email and any required custom fields and timezone
  
• Pop-up auto-refreshing buddylist with ICQ-style alerts when new buddies come online. You'll find a link in the temp buttons top right in the nav bar.
  
• Show the title of the last posted to thread for each forum on index.php
  
• Subscription to Threads/Forum without receiving e-mails
  
• Favorite threads - you don't get email from these either.

• Send an email "thanks for registering and welcome to .." on user registration (welcome email)

Wow... That's alot of changes... Sounds very good!

The user karma and ranking system could take the place of our current doubloon system. It may have to since I don't think the hack will work with vB 3, at least not without modifications. If we end up doing way with the doubloons, your current count at the time will be converted/contributed to your ranking/karma.

Also there can be automatic promotions from user groups, so members who have a certain number posts would automatically be promoted to a "Veterans" group or something which would have different access privileges.

I like those, thats what I originaly thought dblns would be like. Dblns system is kinda fading :( so its good to replace it.

Just one question. If you're a current BP member, do you still have to pay the 100 dblns per month. Or are you not having to pay anymore?

If you're already a member you don't have to pay anything.
