First off you didn't list a motherboard:unsure:

PC 2700 ram is overkill, imo. You probably won't even notice the difference. You didn't list the name of it either.

You didn't list which kind of video card (MSI, ASUS, Gainward, etc.). I'd get a faster cdrw (you didn't list a name either).

A good power supply alone will cost $75. A good case will be in the $100's.

Um...the cpu is fine. You didn't list the name of the HDD.

I'd say you have a ways to go before you start building this thing, if you were expecting to order this week or something. But I dunno...

I'm working on getting parts and putting one together right now, and its going to cost a little over $1000.

Oh yeh, you didn't list the monitor, which can be the most expensive part of the pc.

I don't mean to be harsh or anything if thats what it sounds like. I'm just sayin. Feel free to ask for advice on the parts if need be...

You need a Case, a Power supply, preferably 300 Watts, and a Monitor, unless ypou're using your current one which might not be compatible, you need an OS, either Linux or Win XP since the M$ SOB's have decided to discontinue ME and 2k, unless you buy it from PCMall.com but beware, you can't return it!

I'd avoid the CD-Rw or a DVD-ROM and Just get a DVD-RW/CD-R/RW combo drive whihc is a god $500 but worth the price, if you're a video nut make sure to hvae a Flat CRT monirtor, LCXD's aren't good and degrade quickly and "older" Rounded CRT's are bad as well, I reccomened NEC monitors personally.

If you get an Ethernet card, make sure it's a good one for your Cable/DSL modem, if you don't have a firewall, BUY ONE ASAP, I re4ccomend ZoneAlarm Pro with the "PestPatrol" bundle for removing spyware, also, be sure to have at LEAST an 80 Gig HDD, you might want two of them if you're going for a higher price and DV editing.

Finally get a Metal Case or a Metal/Plastic Case, the ones I reccomend are the "Dragon" Ful-Tower Cases which are Metal/Plastic, but require good coling so have an open space for it.

Finaly you need a MoBo, AMD chips run on AMD boards and Asus is another good bet, check out what you can find, make sure you get a CPU Tempurature monitor (the intel P4 comes with one) for an AMD I'd use SiSoft's Sandra.

Hope this helps somewhat.
