how can I play these movies?
 

I've downloaded some movies for when we're on vacation (taking our laptop with us), but I can't play some of them.

Like an X-Men DVD-rip. The filename ends on .avi , but I only hear the sound, I don't see the movie.

I probably need DivX or something, but could you tell me if that's it and where I can get it?

yeah get DivX :p

Either try Download.com and search for DivX or DivX Encoder. Or go to Google and search for DivX/DivX Encoder.

Yeah you need that code c stuff...same thing happened to me a while back.

Hmm, I've got some nice versions of X-Men, The Emperor's New Groove (for my sisters ;)) aaaaaaand... Jungle Book and Robin Hood.

I have some cinema recordings from Resident Evil, Gladiator, The Mummy Returns and Lilo and Stitch. Plus some other movies. :)
