RE2&3 for only $19.95 each!
Capcom has revealed some details on Resident evil 2 & 3. The best thing they announced, was the fact that both games will retail for a suggested price of only $19.95
Capcom has announced the continuation of the multi-million dollar Resident Evil franchise with the sequels to the original blockbuster coming to Nintendo GameCube. Scheduled to release this winter are, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, developed by Shinji Mikami, Capcom’s executive producer and creator of the Resident Evil series. The Resident Evil franchise has sold more than 20 million units worldwide. Both Resident Evil titles will be available at the suggested MSRP of $19.95. The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated these games 'M' for mature audience. http://www.cube-europe.com/newsphp/news.php?id=1052 :banana::banana::banana::banana: Just a small bit of what C-E said. But this is great fricken news for me! I've think I've heard them say RE2 will use the same graphics that RE1 on 'Cube had. If so, then I will buy these for sure. Hell, $20 a piece isn't too bad! |
I don't get it... even $19.95 for these PORTS of ANCIENT games can still be considerd a rip-off
-EDIT- oooh, I see Quote:

BUT, would you rather pay $20 or $50 for one. I can understand the price would be a rip off if they sold them for $50. I wouldn't buy them for $50. But $20 is fine for me. I have played RE2 just not RE3. So thats why I will be getting them most likely.

Oh, and I see your point, $20 is better than $50... but if I really wanted it why not go out and get the Psx version that was released over a year ago for maybe even a lower price. |

Some people don't have a Playstation. Cheaper to buy the port for a system you already have than go buy a whole seperate system and then the game. |

But hey... the wait may not be worth it. If Miyamoto said he would sell you Zelda for $300 today, you you could wait 10 months and get it for $50, would you wait, or buy now? I'm SURE you would give it some serious thought either way. |

And they bring it over because some people have never played a RE game because. And Cube owners will play 1, then 0, and then have a wait until 4. And in that period, Capcom released these so they can catch up with the story. And $20 is cheaper than a PSX, memory card, and then the game. Not to mention I don't think many stores still sell those games. |

A port (in this case) means that the game code is just converted to run on the GameCube hardware and that's all. No graphics updated over the original code. Other developers do choose to boost the frames, and play with the code so that the AA, blur effects and drawing distances take advantages of the different hardware when making a port. But Capcom stated that none of this will be made on the ports of the rest of RE games. |
Why doesn't Capcom just put both RE 2 & 3 together in one package similar to FF Anthology, and sell it for $50. It may be better for the buyer if it's in seperate packages, but Capcom would probably make more money off of it by doing it this way.

still a bit of a rip off... but 20 bucks is good nonetheless... they're still good games :D
But it's not a surprise... RE2 and 3 were released on DC awhile back for 20 bucks each too... *shrugs* and the PSX games cost like 15-20 bucks each... why would they make the NGC versions cost more when they won't have any extras, and according to the developer dude (in an interview I read) they "Havn't added a single polygon"? :p |
