PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
Well for years gamers have asked for Sony's alternative to Super Smash Bros, it looks like Sony is finally set to deliver it to us this year... with PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
|
Re: PlaySttation All-Stars Battle Royale
Okay, this could be cool I guess. Its a total smash bros rip off, even graphically it looks a lot like brawl I think, but I guess that was the point.

Re: PlaySttation All-Stars Battle Royale
It reminds me of LBP, with some Brawl.
I love the possibilities of the randomness of the characters they can use. I wikipedia'd the game, and it said they're allowing third party characters for it. No idea how many characters the game will have or anything. But I am absolutely loving the idea of having PaRappa from everyones favourite game PaRappa the Rapper. |
Re: PlaySttation All-Stars Battle Royale
Smash Bros. is all kinda goofy and unreal. I wonder if using Kratos in this game will take away from the atmosphere when fighting mascots. I'll end up giving it a try, though.

I wonder how the gameplay itself will be. I heard that the main game mode isn't about smashing somebody off screen, or taking down his hit points. You have to build up your meter by hitting other players. When it's full, you can score a point with a superattack. But your meter runs low when somebody else hits you.
So in a way, it's more like Brawl's coin mode. But we'll have to see how it turns out. |

While in no way am I saying that doesn't sound terrible; let's just hope that there are other modes. Sort of like how Smash has Coin mode for people who don't like damage mode, or time for those who don't like stock. |

It seems the only way to score points is to use your Super Moves. And so far, that seems to favor Kratos based on videos. |
Re: PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
It'd be a dumb-fucking move for them to only have one game mode in that game. It would be so dumb that I'm just going to assume there are other game modes. Even that Ninja Turtles Brawl-style game had a few different ways to play.
Maybe they're going for 'coin mode' as standard, just so it's not too like Brawl, because it's clearly brawl. But I'd just guess someone would say "Uh, hey guys - let's capitalize even more by trying to add modes in it that mimic Brawl." |

There's no health meters.. and most of the levels are in a confined space with no place to "SMASH" them out |
Re: PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
They can add health meters. Melee and Brawl had the option.

Doing moves in normal mode and with health meter tends to do similar amounts of damage. One counts up, one counts down. This game ATM, has no real health indicators. There's no.. this move does this amount of damage... because damage isn't that important. |

Re: PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
I'm currently in the closed beta for this game, and it's a fun game hidden beneath a lot of bad decisions it would seem.
The game feels like they started off saying... we need to make our own Smash Bros... and then how do we make it different... and then no one ever going back and fixing the issues that would arise from making Smash Bros diff For example, one of the cooler things about the game is how the stages work. They tend to combine two of Sony's franchises and they morph as you play. Some more than others.... But what's the point? Unlike Smash Bros where an evolving stage would mean changing your tactics or keeping up with movement.. a changed stage here means nothing. Since again, it doesn't change the way you score points. Like one stage, a grinder opens up in the middle.. you would think to stay away from it because it would drain HP.. oh wait there's no HP... I think it takes away some AP (The meter you use to build your supers), but if it does not in any great quantity.... Which leads me to my single biggest problem with the game right now.. it has a terrible sense of feeding the user any type of information For instance, didn't know how to really play the first two times because the controller layout screen is shown for a second.. and that's it.. they should move it to the finding a match screen since can be there for some time.. (again this is a beta) But the biggest offenders is actually during game play. The game doesn't give you any indication of who is winning/losing in a match. There's no audio cue or anything really when you gain a level on your super meter.. and dying and respawns have no real pop to them.. it's frustrating.. I would die.. and not know it.. and would return.. and not know it! >.< |
