Bug Identification

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Ive got a pretty good knowledge base when it comes to insects, but I found this little guy last weekend while I was camping and have no clue what it is. I cant find it anywhere and I want to know what it is.
One things for sure though, it looks cool, and it can jump.
Anyone know what it is?

If you don't know what it is, why would you let it crawl on your hand?

Hell, even if I know what it is, it ain't crawling on me. Only place we're making contact is on the bottom of my foot.

I was going to say long horn beetle...but the tail makes it hard to tell. And the fact that it is jumping...it could be some sort of grasshopper thing too.

Fortunately they are out in Canada...the bugs out there are mostly mild, unlike say...the Outback or even Florida or something. They probably should be more concerned about grizzlies or the fact that they're Canadian, eh.

You can try reddit. Almost everyday I come across posts asking to identify a bug.

Oh ya, I found out what it was. A Giant Stone Fly, aka a Salmon Fly, but it was missing its wings for some reason. Part of the same family as Caddis flies.
