New info via Matt Casamassina

Matt's answering questions in a chat right now. Here's some stuff:

- Something's definetly up with Rare, the way even Nintendo dodged questions

- Square's secrets aren't too far off, he thinks

- The mature link you once saw isn't entirely gone. Doesn't mean mature Zelda is on the way. Will learn more in near future. Cool thing, he promises.

- Big PD secret didn't happen at E3, but you will like it.

- Too Human likely at Spaceworld. SK finishing up ED right now, should be on time.

- 30 minutes of Zelda footage and 45 minutes of Mario footage to put up

- Metroid is roughly 7 hours long. Matt loves Halo, and says Metroid will own it.

- Matt is confident Rare will develop for other platforms.

Hmm... could Link evolve in the game (that would be funny), or maybe Mario Kart? Matt always does this.

I think the most likely situation thing about the Realistic Link not being gone entirely is like... He'll be in more of the mario "spin offs" or whatever... kart, golf, stuff he wasn't in before... and he'll stay realistic kinda because... well, those games aren't cel-shaded :p

But I dunno why that'd be such a cool thing

but still... Or maybe they're making some sort of Link game... like Mario tennis, mario golf, mario this mario that... maybe they're making... Zelda something or other...

Ginkasa 05-27-2002 08:12 PM

I hope Link isn't in any "party" games. At least not in any Mario games. Those are more Mario unvierse characters, Mario Bros., Wario, Peach, Yoshi, etc. He wouldn't fit.

The growing up wouldn't be bad, he grew up in OoT.

DeathsHand 05-27-2002 08:14 PM

Maybe Link will get his own special mini-game type of game with like... different modes based on Zelda stuff... shooting gallery, horseback archery (with lots of different courses to choose from)... ummm.... some other mini-games :p Some other stuff based on mini-games from older zeldas... with lots of neat secrets to be found and fun to be had by all!

Can't wait for that.

Strong statement. Hope it's as good as he says it is.

Hmm, not that reliable then. You gave the impression he was a Nintendo representative. I mean of course he is going to say Rare is going to develop for other consoles, because that is what his website reported and that is what he is paid to say. Great traffic drawer also.

OOOOOOOORRRRRR maybe rare is going to develop for other consoles :D

Why do you guys care ayway? You still get tha games you want just now there will be games from the same company on other systems ...

Ric 05-27-2002 10:41 PM

I care because... :mad2: It's bollocks :mad2:
I hate it when people post false rubbish, it's not big, it's not clever, it's d!ckheaded.

Also because it's not possible without a huge legal battle concerning copyrights and Rare are Nintendo's number one 2nd party IMO.

And anyway the post I made with a quote from a highly reputible gamecube magazine in the UK which was confirmed by Shadow_Link and C.H proved that this rumour is a complete load of rubbish so :p

You don't know anymore than people who think it's true so stop acting like you're 100% right...

And also, if Rare made games for other consoles, there wouldn't be any legal battles... Because they wouldn't use any Nintendo owned characters or anything... Rare can make their own characters and such, you know...

And while this magazine might be a highly reputible one, I think with IGN being such a big major videogame news site, they could be too, right? That magazine isn't right until it's 100% confirmed or denied by Rare and Nintendo... but do they confirm or dey it? No, they keep dodging the questions... which is suspicious... And just because Shadow Link and CH saw the article thing too, doesn't mean that what the article said was right...

So stop just calling it rubbish and getting all mad about it and accept that them leaving as a Nintendo second party is a possibility, as is it ending up false... and when there is more than 1 possibility, people believe which one they think is true... Based on what they've heard and all that... So quit complaining :p

Basically, until Rare or Nintendo confirm it 100% as true or false, either one is a possibility... so just deal with it :p

Ric 05-28-2002 10:30 AM

I wouldn't be so dead damn sure of it if it weren't printed in the particular magazine in question. They don't print crap or internet rumours (and there's plenty of them) they are as I mentioned highly reputible and a former employee of the magazine works for Rareware so they have a very reliable inside contact.

I am going to stay 99.99% sure this is a load of crap and I am going to defend that opinion.

Anyway what of the other news, like the decent looking Link still existing somewhere. Or this PD secret we are all going to like, which will probably be revealed at Spaceworld this year.

Some interesting little bits of info there.

Jason1 05-28-2002 01:20 PM

Ric, I dont like the idea of Rare going multiplatform any more than you do. But with all the rumors and things...well, I know none of it is confirmed, but its most likely true. They just dont want to make it public yet.

Jonbo298 05-28-2002 01:25 PM

I don't know if this is just me but it seems like Nintendo might be making Retro(Studios) become the next Rare. It seems strange to me that they would hand over one of the biggest franchises(Metroid, duh!) over to them to work on.

I think they're making retro the next EAD. Because they already own Retro(or most of it). But an EAD directed more to action games. Instead of platformers, adventure games and such.
