Alan Wake or Red Dead Redemption

I'm going out in a couple of hours and I'm going to get one of these games.

Which one would you recommend? (I realize they're nothing alike).

How scary is Alan Wake to play? I don't really enjoy horror games that actually scare me. As a point of reference, Resident Evil 4 did not scare me (although it was pleasantly suspenseful), but the first Resident Evil did.

Thanks for the feedback - I think I'm going to get RDR, but I decided to wait until I've finished AC2 instead of getting it today.

I'm going to be bluntly honest here.

You're going to get your money's worth for RDR.

Honestly Alan Wake was an amazing game to play, for the entire 7 hours it took me to beat it. You can tell the developers put so much time into the game, and that they loved their game. It wasn't scary at all, but it was highly enthralling. It was like playing a really great episode of the twilight zone, or playing a really good stephen king book. They drew a lot of inspiration from lovecraft and king, as well as shows like Twin Peaks and the Twilight Zone, but other than some achievements, there's no reason to replay the game after the first time. It has 1 ending, and granted they're giving away the first DLC for free, it's still not exactly worth 60 bucks. It's definitely worth one hell of a rent, or to borrow it, or to wait until it's cheap used or new. I mean hell, honestly I'll be back in Lexington tomorrow night, so sometime next week you could borrow it from me if you want, but don't waste your money on it, and it pains me to say that more than anything because of how good it was.

Definitely just rent Alan Wake, it's way shorter.
