I don't think he's doing a good job running the country. He's kinda just there holding all the power while everyone else does the work and making decisions, waiting for him to die. Kinda like the pope, don't take offense to that.

But If I thought Yamauchi was working, I'd say keep him. But it seems to me he did a lot to start the company, but recently, he's just holding all the power, and not doing much. So I'm glad we get someone new in there.

Of course, most people wanted him gone cause of Square. Square is back, so it seems no one cares anymore. Perfect time to retire.

He's actually pretty good, and brought Nintendo yo yhe top. But it is about time he leaves...

Leave him alone, he is some 80+ years old. A president for 53 years...I thinks is about time.

I think he's served his time, it was time for him to step down, now nintendo can get some fresh new ideas into the company:D

This is kind of a sad day Yamauchi really is Nintendo in my Eyes (Never be the same with out him) and he is about the only thing that stopped the Micrsosoft buy out!

In some ways he had to go but his love for Nintendo was the driving factor for so many. Any way hope he has a good life away from the Big N.

Yeah yeah, I'll believe it when I see it, whats this like the 5th time he's retired.

I knew this was coming soon anyway since it was announced that he would retire when the Gamecube had been launched.

His Father or Grandfather... I forget which... started the company in the late 1800's. I wonder if another Yamauchi is in line for 'Supreme Ruler Of Nintendo' one day?

This is sad news. :(

Hopefully he wont miss the job too much. His reign was great while it lasted.
