Favre to sign with Vikings

Quote:

A high-placed NFL source said Tuesday morning that the agent for retired quarterback Brett Favre(notes) spent much of Monday calling to check on the details of what would be a one-year, $12 million deal for Favre to join the Minnesota Vikings.

Favre’s agent, Bus Cook, did not immediately return phone messages left by Yahoo! Sports. However, The Associated Press reported Tuesday morning that Minnesota coach Brad Childress confirmed in an e-mail that Favre was traveling from Mississippi to meet with the team.

The reported talks by Cook come on the heals of strong speculation by FOX Sports NFL reporter Jay Glazer on Monday that Favre would join the Vikings later this year. WCCO-TV in Minneapolis reported on Tuesday morning that a high-placed Vikings source expected Favre to sign with the team later in the day.

Favre has wavered on whether to stay retired since making his initial announcement to leave the Green Bay Packers in March 2008. Favre had been expected to join the Vikings at the start of training camp, but then told Minnesota coach Brad Childress that he wasn’t interested in playing at that time.

I never thought I would say this, but is anyone else tired of Brett Favre?

Coming from you, that means a lot. My grandad and dad are hardcore Packer fans and they feel the same way too.

I guess we should have seen this coming. Eh, it should certainly make for some must see games in the NFC North.

I never thought I'd see someone say that. As for Bret Farve...this is getting a bit ridiculous.

The more he does this BS with saying he's retired every year, then crying about it, then coming back... the less I can blame green bay for letting him go.Working with him would have to be a big headache..

I see why Green Bay kicked his ass out. On the other hand, keeping Favre in the NFC North means more exciting games with the Vikings/Packers and Vikings/Bears.

This is good news for me and everyone else who watches 6 NFC North games every Season. This could be bad news for the Vikings though.

I've always hated Favre, mainly because he was a cheesehead. Ok, I really only thought Favre sucked because he was a cheesehead, no other reason.

Now he's just another guy trying to get publicity. Granted, I stopped watching football when he was still on the Packers, he retired for a reason, and should've stayed retired.

As for the Vikings, I wish they would save their money and spend it on other players. Players who might be able to actually stay with the team for more than 1 practice before dying of old age. Besides, every good QB the Vikings have ever brought in has done horribly for the Vikings. Remember Warren Moon?

I hope for the Vikings sake, Favre has a great season. More importantly, I hope we find a real QB for when he gets injured, since it seems like its bound to happen.
