Questions, and The 2d Fighting Thread

I don't know if this has been covered but I don't feel like searching the threads for it. Rumor on the Down Low is that King of the Fighters 2001 may have a release on PS2 soon. Playmore, the owners of the Now defunct SNK are once again working on it. I haven't yet heard if it will be released in america yet. But I'm hoping it is as KOF is an awesome franchise. Also, any news on any new Capcom vs. games coming out. Some rumor awhile back that I never got confirmed/denied was that Capcom was thinking of a capcom vs. Dragonball Z(which I'm sure was fake, but it is capcom).

Feel free to discuss your favorite 2D fighters in this thread. Personally I enjoy King of the Fighters series. Street Fighter/The VS. Series, Guilty Gear X, Last Blade 2, and Garou: Mark of the Wolves.

Speaking of which, I wish Garou would be released for PS2(if it has, someone let me know).

Is this a 2d fighting fan? Coz there aren't many around here.

I have KOF2k1 on PC as we speak, but of course i'd prefer it on a console such as Ps2.

Must agree with you about KOF being an "Awesome franchise".

HOw's ur style? Do u dog it (I.E use Kensou, Heidern) and wait?

They have bad endings, graphics aren't nething spectacular, but it has one of the tightest fighting game engines known to man.

I'm into KOF (96 onward), CVS 2, MVC 2, Garou:Mark Of The Wolves, Tekken 4 (non 2d), VF4 (non 2d), DOA3 (non 2d). NEver got into Guilty Gear much. I don't mind the SF games (2d and 3d).

I like Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. This game is sick (and it doesn't feel dated).

Yes, I'm a 2d fighter fan.

I started back when I first played some street fighter II in my local 7-11.

My style depends on the game and what I'm working with. In SNK vs, Capcom 2 I have a groove which caters to my style. Mostly I attack for a period of time, then fall back and defend, then counter a move and go right back into attacking. in the KOFs I was normally all about Terry, Clark and Ralf. I got a good all around fighter in terry, An good power fighter in Ralf, and a grappler in clark.

I love SNK games and Am looking forward to playing some Garou. I really want to play KOF2k1 on a console, but for now I'll settle with capcom vs. SNK 2(Which I play every day), and hopefully guilty gear soon. Tekken 4 and VF4 are also very good. Guilty Gear X plays like X-Men:CotA and I like that. I also like Last Blade 2.

Yeh I started playing SF2 @ a video shop believe it or not.

Who u good at in KOf2k1?

Violence Fight 05-22-2002 06:46 AM

I haven't played 2k1 yet, but its high on my to do list. I assume I'd be good with who I normally choose until I learn some of the new characters moves and combos. So my starting team would probably be Kim, Iori and Clark. Or Alternately Kyo, Shingo and Ralf. I'm not sure on strikers but those would be my main teams.

How is everyone playing 2k1? Emulator?

Yeh I'm playing it through an emulator, but challenge @ arcades.

U might wanna learn later on May Lee, she is really powerful.

Angel is good, tricky @ times.

K9999 is interesting if u use him right.

Kula has an infinity.

Ramon is good (my favourite char). I don't c ne1 use him like me.

Lin is very good, one of the most powerful easily. As are clark/ralph

Violence Fight 05-22-2002 07:12 PM

I heard that Ramon is a grappler...maybe a luchadore or something around that nature. But thanks for the advice, I guess I'll need an emulator and a controller for the PC.
