Chicago Bears......

Bears get Jay Cutler...

For their 2009 and 2010 first round draft picks, for a 3rd round draft pick.....

and for Kyle Orton!

WHAT. THE. FUCK!

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4037373

By the way, Cutler has an 86.0 passer rating and a 17-20 overall record in Denver, and Orton has a 79.6 passer rating, went 10-5 in his rookie season as a Bear with like a 56.0 passer rating (but to be fair, they didn't let him throw the ball and he hadn't adjusted well to the offense).

Orton was a trooper. He never complained, never whinned. He worked hard. He took hits. And he was improving with each game up until his injury. Now he's looking like a possible future as a level-headed QB in Denver.

Jerry Angelo is a piece of shit. I'm furious angry at Chicago's management right now.

Re: Chicago Bears......

I should say I wish Cutler the best of luck and I'll be cheering for him. But part of why Orton and even *cringe* Grossman struggled was because of the Bears inconsistency with the wide receiver position. Also Cutler lost most of his games when the Denver defense was struggling. Well, the Bears defense has been struggling, it needs some fresh blood and a reboot. I don't think putting a gunslinger in Chicago is necessarily going to net wins.

Some of the sportstalk on ESPN is already saying stuff like "the Bears are going to dominate the NFC North now." I dunno, I'm not not so optimistic. And at the cost of two first round draft picks. :ohreilly:

Also, I have been a huge supporter of Orton since he first took over for Grossman. He's been my underdog Chicago hero.

Anyway, what is done is done. Hopefully Jerry Angelo is right and I'm wrong. Good luck Jay.

No kidding.....although the last few years the Bears have made some iffy first round picks.

By the way, is Favre playing this year, Bond?

I think this has got to be a good move for them. The Bears need a proven QB more than anything and thats what they are getting with Cutler, ignoring his own personality. I'm not going to go far as to say the Bears are sure to dominate, but I always hear people saying the Bears never go out and make a big move, well thats exactly what they have done so stop complaining.

I respect that observation.

At the same time, you have to understand that right now the Bears do not have any great receivers. Devin Hester is the fastest mother fucker in the NFL right now, but he sucks at catching the ball. Rashied Davis is probably our number 2 guy, but he still has had his rough days too. In fact, a big part of the reason Orton had so much trouble last year was due to the lack of chemistry with the receivers. What we do have going for us is an awesome Running Back, Matt Forte, as well as two great back up RBs. We have two kick ass Tight Ends, Desmond Clark and Greg Olsen, and an average O-line and deteriorating defense. We have an offense that is great for running run plays, little wide out plays, screen plays, and the occasional shot down field. Having a gun at the QB spot is probably not going to pay off right away.

I think Cutler is a great addition to our Chicago team. I'm not complaining. I hope Devin Hester shapes up to be a better receiver than he was shaping up to be last season. And hopefully Chicago fans won't throw Cutler under the bus if he isn't as productive or if our receivers still drop passes (don't see why that will change with a new QB...). I assure you though, if Cutler acts like a primadonna or whines about taking hits, there will be trouble in Chicago.

So.. brings up the classic question of who's fault it is, QB or recievers. My natural reaction is to blame the QB. ITs hard to predict the future, but usually in the NFL no risk = no reward. This may be a good calculated risk.
