Nintendo Old is New, New is Old

So Nintendo had a conference in Japan today and soon to be followed by a USA one later on in the day.

The other thread has the info on the DS stuff, but they also announced some Wii stuff. More so than they did at e3... take that as you will.

One thing they did hit on is re-making the old.

They will be re-releasing Pikmin and Jungle Beat as Wii appeal titles or something. I'm not sure if these are the original games with Wii controls tacked on or just re-release, but I think it's a waste. Especially in the case of Jungle beat in which I think Wii-controls would make it worse.

On the other end of the spectrum, they announced a handful of new games including:
Punch-Out

Sin and Punishment 2 (I know a certain Gekko who would be excited)

Tale of God Knows what at this point
Another Code Wii

And Samurai Warriors 3?

IGN's coverage: http://wii.ign.com/articles/915/915504p1.html

I'm trying to find Pikmin 2 for the Cube, but it's expensive because it's so rare (because it didn't sell that well). If they remake it and sell it cheap for the Wii, I could get that... But we also want Pikmin 3!!!!

Sin & Punishment 2? :D

And I'm not really interested in this new Punch-Out if it will have motion controls. I'm pretty sure it'll be too much like Wii Boxing.

But it would be great if it used WiiMotionPlus. Imagine holding 2 Wiimotes+...

uggghhhh...no
Please, no more peripherals. Just make the thing work with what's available.

Oh wow. This is fantastical. I'm loving it!

Sin and Punishment 2 puts the nail in the hater coffin. There's no way it could be anything other than hardcore. :D

That video reminded me of the good old days at the beginning of the gamecube. :D

Nah. If the videos that show what that new Motion+ can do actually hold up, then I'd much rather have a PunchOut with those than with just the regular WiiMote.

I understand the frustration with peripherals. I haven't bought any besides one of the classic controllers, the rest I've seen have been complete gimmicks, and that's by Wii standards. The new motion peripheral, on the other hand, actually looks useful. Argue what you will about the Wii should have been able to do it from the beginning, it's still a vast improvement.

Videos of the Pikmin/Jungle Beat Wii-lease.

I actually look forward to Pikmin wii-make though Pikmin 3 would have been nice.

I can't imagine Jungle Beat being fun without the bongos. I hope the game still supports those.

Like manasecret kind of said, that's not possible. The technology they use for WiiMotionPlus simply wasn't available (or cheap enough) at the launch of the Wii.

The Wiimotes are limited, they just can't do everything you want them to. You need Motion+ for that. And when you have that, it should work perfectly.

i'd rather it just let you use the wimote sideways or classic controller... give it an option to use motion if people want it. but just like mario kart, i prefer classic controls.

Or maybe, they just didn't think enough/ test enough.

For once that doesn't actually work for Nintendo.
They announced 2-3 new IPs.
While there are sequels, Sin and Punishment isn't exactly their bread and butter for go to sequels and there hasn't been a Punch-Out since the SNES.

Sin and Punishment 2
Oddly doesn't show co-op, which I hope is online.. and better not be dropped
