June NPD: Snake Wins
The Ps3 has finally had a month where it has curb stomped the 360. Doubling sales. The Wii continues to dominate however and is now the official leader in North America.

Wow, Wii Fit outsold Wii Play. How'd they manage that?

Re: June NPD: Snake Wins
I wonder how much longer Nintendo will be classified as a videogame company. It's clear they've differentiated themselves out of the market in which Sony and Microsoft compete. Perhaps "Toys & Entertainment?"

I think people are just trying to get this through so that it won't make the Ps3/360 performance seem as bad. Especially the 360 which month after month is losing the ability to say it is the platform where 3rd party games sell. Hell 4 of the games are for Wii and 6 are from Nintendo consoles. It kills both competitors in console sales. And two of the Wii games are actual games. And another is just a mini-game compilation. There e3 showing was lukewarm at best, but I don't think we will be subjected to Wii whatever for the rest of this gen. |
Re: June NPD: Snake Wins
You heard it here first, folks: 50% of the top-selling Wii titles are actual games.

Look at the price discrepancies of the consoles. Do you think Porsche competes with Honda? No. They're both vehicle companies, but they sell price differentiated products to different target audiences. Therefore, not competitors. |

The Wii is not too different from the PS3/360. Sure it is not as powerful but the core of the console is pretty much the same. They differientated themselves by the method of control. Is an ATM not an ATM anymore because it uses touch screen instead of a numeric pad? And what is wrong with making yourself different? Quote:
And again, Nintendo games sell to the same audience as any other game. And that's people who enjoy it. I mean if you want to see the importance of casuals, did you notice that neither GTA IV SKUs are on this month. Two months and GTA is off the list? That really has to be a record for the series. And I think its because without the casual audience that enjoyed it on the Ps2 it has sold to the pretty set hardcore gamers. Which would also explain why there was no hardware bump with its release. If the Wii isn't effecting that, I would love to see a better explanation. |
Re: June NPD: Snake Wins
The Top 20 is in. And it seems to paint a similar picture.

Re: June NPD: Snake Wins
very nice to see a MGS game move a lot of units and a lot of PS3's. PS3 has to be beating the 360 in the US in 2008 by a few hundred thousand units if my esitmation is somewhat accurate.

Re: June NPD: Snake Wins
Ok, I'm convinced the Wii crowd are a bunch of gullible people even though it was already confirmed so. Rock Band Wii...while Rock Band is great and all, it's the gimped PS2 version. I'm spoiled by RB on the 360 but I guess people are willing to buy that version.

Re: June NPD: Snake Wins
Gullible people for buying a good game for the only console they probably have? Huh?
