You know Those cans are an engineering marvel. They have to be strong to deal with the pressure but also be able to be crushed. The rim has a microscopic double seam that a machine bends into place.

At least it wasn't a glass bottle...glass doesn't expand nicely like the aluminum can, it just shatters. :(
