Attn Mac Users: Get Leopard!
 

Picked it up yesterday at my local Apple Store. Its well worth the $116 (student discount) or $130 regular price.

Feels like my Mini functions faster and there's a lot of pretty changes.

The special effect backgrounds for iChat and Photobooth are surprisingly slick too ^_^

Umm... yes. It's marvelous. Don't like the new dock though, hard to see the indicator. Thankfully, you can revert it to 2D and it looks awesome.

But I LOOOOOOOVE spaces, and quick look. Space bar to open almost any file, instantly, with no application launching. Wow...

Oh yes, and it's about time great backup software shipped with an OS. Time Machine is essentially version control for your entire system. Can't beat that.

It's not in there, doesn't mean it doesn't exist :p Apple has a lot of things like that... pie chart progress bar for Safari, debug menus, show hidden apps as faded icons in the dock, etc. Lots of good stuff under the hood.

Anyway, type this into the terminal, log out, and come back in to a better dock:

defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES

I'm assuming you know how to revert if needed.

Your copy was $116 with the student discount? They're selling them for around $70 here.

I'm a little afraid to upgrade right now, so I'll probably wait until Christmas break.

Don't be a bitch, upgrade.

Some campuses sell them for $69 still, but Apple officially raised the edu price to $116, which sucks. But not everyone has access to a campus store that sells Apple products. Not all of us are that lucky, some people go to a school that does Windows and Xbox 360 development. No Macs here.

Since you can run both operating systems on a Mac now, why not?

Apple laptops are awesome for college.
