As the Tokyo Game Show approaches, we're making a few announcements that we're excited about. At the press conference held today by the Japan team, we announced that Team NINJA will develop NINJA GAIDEN 2, the true sequel to the Xbox original, exclusively for Xbox 360.

We also announced that Mistwalker’s Lost Odyssey will be available Dec. 6, 2007, in Japan, and around the world in early 2008, and SQUARE ENIX talked about two new games for Xbox 360: INFINITE UNDISCOVERY and THE LAST REMNANT.

We announced several new games coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade, including “Every Extend Extra Extreme” (Q Entertainment), “EXIT” (Taito), “Ikaruga” (Treasure Co. Ltd.), “OMEGA FIVE” (Hudson Entertainment), “Rez” (Q Entertainment), “Triggerheart Exelica” (Warashi), “Braid” (Number None Inc.), “Castlecrashers” (The Behemoth), and “Schizoid” (Torpex Games LLC).

And once again, Microsoft will bring the Tokyo Game Show experience into living rooms worldwide as it offers its “TGS Bring It Home” programming, with hours of coverage from the press briefing, highlights from the show floor, interviews with developers, gameplay videos, exclusive trailers and a variety of Xbox 360 content for gamers to download over Xbox LIVE Marketplace, beginning Sept. 13, 2007.

Oooh Ikaruga to Live Arcade. That's big news.

I thought Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox was one of the more painful experiences I've ever had with a game. It looked great and the controls were tight... but the camera was a complete disaster, especially in boss fights.

Its kind of hard to avoid getting hit when the camera won't allow you to see where your enemy is half the time...

Sit down with, and vow to beat, a copy of Ninja Gaiden on the NES...
That's what leads to a painful gaming experience...

I hear Tecmo likes money. Mmm money.

We've known about Ikaruga for a while, haven't we? That doesn't sound new.

I think I did beat that game, or at least got very close to beating it. The original consumed my life for a LONG time when I was a kid. That game was challenging, not painful. I want a game to frustrate me because it requires me to have a higher skill level, not because its simply poorly designed.

Read Xantar's blog. http://www.purevideogames.net/blog/?p=104 Actually this entry was from a friend, but it hits the nail.

I suppose you have a point there...

The thing about Ninja Gaiden, though, is that the first 5 or so stages are mildly to moderately challenging, then level 6 ups the ante...
Then they throw 3 bosses in a row at you...

And this would not be such a big deal in itself if it weren't for the fact that the last 3 bosses are tied into stage 6...
Meaning once you manage to make it through stage 6, if you die on any one of the 3 bosses, you start over again... From the beginning of stage 6...

And thems some mighty frustrating bosses... I've given it a couple shots within the past few years, both of which had me at it for a good hour or two, and neither time did I get past the second boss...

Maybe I Just suck... But having to climb your way back up from the beginning of stage 6 every time you die at the boss seems like a bit of an unnecessary challenge...
