'Price is Right' for Drew Carey
 

Genial comic Drew Carey was tapped Monday to replace silver-haired legend Bob Barker on the CBS daytime game show "The Price is Right." The deal was set Monday afternoon shortly before a taping of CBS' "Late Show" with David Letterman, where he confirmed it.

"I realize what a big responsibility this is," he said. "It's only a game show, but it's the longest-running game show in American television and I plan to keep it that way."

The selection attracted more attention than usual for a daytime show because of the prospect of replacing Barker, 83. Barker retired after 35 years in the job last month following taping of his 6,586th episode.

Yeah, I think he'll do an alright job. Though I don't really watch the show enough to really care all that much either.

I hope he has a long reign.... I can sort of see somebody like Drew Carey doing this for only a couple years then quitting... But then again, it's not like he has much else going for him! Lol.

Can't wait for his first episode.

Yeah I can't see him lasting too long...
I just cannot envision the day when old folks and college kids alike are running up on the stage, ecstatic that they are finally able to live out their dream of hugging/kissing Drew Carey...

I don't know though...I mean, it's not like Bob Barker had that kind of status when he first started (as far as I know...) If he lasts about 10 years and kids and people start growing up with him, then I think it will be fine. He just needs to grow into the creepy, sexual harassing man that Barker was and it'll be good.
