PS3 Price Drop causes a 2800% increase in sales
 

After official confirmation of the price drop, sales at Amazon.com for the 60GB PS3 have spiked by 2800% and have overtaken the Wii and Guitar Hero: Rock the 80s as the best selling item in the Video Game category.

Haha. I actually noticed the price drop was already effective at my Target on July 9th. I'm really on the fence on whether to get one or not now...

GM, Follow your instinct. What does your heart tell you?

:p I would personally be afraid that it would sit idly most of the time, just like the Wii sometimes does. In my neutral Nintendo fanboyism, I'd pick a 360 over an PS3 at this moment. Many more cool games, rarely a difference in graphics. Even better, wait a few days to see if M$ also lowers the price of their consoles.

Hehe. If Ps3 and 360 were equal price, I'd want a Ps3 more. But that's not the situation, so it makes things harder to decide.. The price drop does make it easier, but as Angrist said 360's could drop any time too. Note that Ps2 is still outselling both 360 and Ps3, so a lot of people still seem to be holding out for now.

My main draw to Ps3 is MGS and more RPG potential for now. hoping Konami posts a release date at E3...

I'm still waiting for more of the good PS3 titles to come out.

At this point, the game selection still doesn't merit me buying the system.
