Some Wii controllers eat batteries -- some don't?

I have two Wiimotes. One has eaten through the first set of no-name brand batteries it came with, and ALSO the second set of Energizer batteries.

However, the other Wiimote, used just as much as the first, is still at full four bars charge on its first set of no-name batteries.

What's the deal? Anyone else having this problem of the Wiimote eating batteries? It was literally at three or four bars at one moment, then the next time I turn on the Wii they're completely dead.

Anyone else?

I had that happen to my only Wiimote. I never saw the second or third bars. One day, it's at my dad's, the next, it's 1 bar left. I thought I left it on or it was too cold for the battery or something.

My Wiimote recently dipped down to 3 bars...

A kid who's house I went to had been playing his about as much as I had been playing mine, his was dead...

*ponders what could be the cause of all this*

I had this happen as well to 2 of my wiimotes. I figured it was the no name batteries. Now we'll see what happens to the duracells.

Is one of them used more with the nunchuck? Do you know if it's the one out of the box or the extra one you bought?

They should both have been used pretty equally -- equally with and equally without the nunchuck.

It is possible that every time I and my nephew and my friend have played Zelda, that the one controller eating batteries gets used every time. Not very likely, though. And it really seems like at one moment it's at full charge, then I turn off the Wii and I come back a little later and they're now dead.

Hmmm I don't know if it was the one out of the box or the extra one... I wonder if I can figure that out...

Maybe through which serial# is lower?? I've already gotten mine mixed up so I don't know which is which.

Have you resynched them since you got them? The one out of the box is automatically set to player 1.

What do you mean player 1? Every time you boot up, doesn't that change depending on which Wiimote you use?

I don't think so, the instructions say the Wiimote in the box is already configured to player 1. If you get a 2nd controller you have to press the sync key on the Wiimote and the console and then press 2 to assign it to player 2.

Huh? Really? But there isn't a 3 or 4 button when you get your third and fourth controllers?

I thought the same as Yoda. Every time I start the Wii, whichever controller I happen to press A on first becomes first player.

Yeah, it's assigned every bootup.

And the sync button is only used for emergencies. You should be able to connect with just the 1 and 2 buttons.

But I thought they tell you not to use rechargeables... Though I'm not sure exactly why they would...
