Zelda TP - Impressions? Progress? NO SPOILERS PLEASE.
No Spoilers PLEASE!
I've got about 11 1/2 hours into the game so far, I'm really liking it. I'm trying not to miss anything (I won't know until I'm done I guess). I just got inside the 3'rd temple - I think I read somewhere there's 10? Seems like there's ~90-120 minutes of stuff between each temple (it seems to get longer after each one). All really good stuff - nothing feels like filler so far I'm pleased to say. And then each temple is taking me ~60-90 minutes. The dungeon styles changed a lot between the first and second. The first temple had a lot of backtracking and puzzle solving, whereas the second seemed to just flow more and have more environmental treachery as opposed to thinking difficulty. Anyway, I was just curious what everbody thought. So far I've got not much to say but good things. Horse combat was a bit rough at first, but now that I've got it down it's pretty amazing. But yeah, post here with your experiences. |

It's good for me so far. I've taken longer then usual to get things done since I've done alot of side things or trying to figure out where to go next :p
But past the 3rd temple, I'll say that much...since anything beyond that is spoiler territory. |

How are you guys liking the sword controls?

Re: Zelda TP - Impressions? Progress? NO SPOILERS PLEASE.
Personally I'm dissapointed that the whole game is a rip-off of Beautiful Zelda by The Bonzo Dog Band...
But not really, I only just finished the first temple, but I'm'a'diggin' the game... I dunno, I'm still getting used to the controls... The fighting is not terrible, but quite frankly I think one of the buttons should have been used for a normal attack... The swinging of the remote just seems a bit sluggish in comparison, although it works well with the spin-attack... I also get thrown off by the fact that, when aiming a range weapon, the analog stick allows you to move your view left and right, but to look up and down you have to push the pointer to the top or bottom of the screen... But overall they're just minor irritations that I'm already beginning to get the hang of... |

*Edit* Beat the third temple. God the plot is just awesome. So much more cinematic than the rest of the other Zelda games. |
Re: Zelda TP - Impressions? Progress? NO SPOILERS PLEASE.
Controls take a little to adjust but I like it. Granted, its not pixel perfect swings for obvious reasons (save that for light saber battles :p ) but I still like it.

Holy **** is this game amazing. Words cannot describe.
I've had oceanic feelings throughout, so far. You know, the pump of adrenaline you get after beating a game? I'm getting that at the beginning of the game. That's a good sign. It's kind of like when I first played Halo Co-op with my brother. I thought, "HERE is next gen." Same with this game. The lighting, the controls, the general gameplay. Everything is a revolution. I can't get enough of it. **** Gamespot, I can't believe they said this was just an evolution rather than a revolution. I should stick some revolution up their ass for their review. |
Re: Zelda TP - Impressions? Progress? NO SPOILERS PLEASE.
That first big horse fight had me breathless. My dad walked into the room, and even he stopped and sat down and watched the battle. I'm going to remember that moment for a long time.
I'm diggin' the sword controls. I really like that you can run and swing your sword at the same time, so cutting grass for goodies becomes less of a chore. At first I thought the movement you had to make just to unsheath your sword didn't really... feel right I guess I'd say. I mean, you shake your hand, and Link pulls the sword out from the sheath on his back. Not 1-to-1 of course, but not exactly gesture-based either. But then I realized, duh, I could make that gesture. And so I've come to pretend as if I am unsheathing my sword from my back. Yeah, it's silly, but it does help me draw myself in to the game all the more. I find the slingshot and boomerang aiming to be a cinch. |

December 7 seems so far away, maybe I should freeze myself until then so time goes faster......

Re: Zelda TP - Impressions? Progress? NO SPOILERS PLEASE.
you'll just wind up way in the future because your friend forgot to unfreeze you...

Re: Zelda TP - Impressions? Progress? NO SPOILERS PLEASE.
Man, I'm on my way to the fifth temple. Just getting better and better.
I want to make one suggestion: Don't forget to explore places like Hyrule Field or Castle Town. I neglected a good portion of both for a long time, but there's a lot you can do fairly early and there are a few heavily sought items you can be rewarded for poking around. |
Re: Zelda TP - Impressions? Progress? NO SPOILERS PLEASE.
You know I'm starting to think that I'd be happier playing this with a standard GC controller. I may trade my Wii version for the GC version.
