Recommendations for GC games

So I skipped the Gamecube generation, but I will be getting the Wii at launch.

So what are some of the best Gamecube games that I have missed?

What games should I go buy at a pawn shop?

Mario Sunshine?
Wind Waker?
Star Fox?
Metroid?
any others?

Of course I'll be getting TP, and also Wind Waker since I would like to experience both of them.

Null, don't be a jackass.

Anyways, Yoda, you're in luck. I happened to collect every game worth it for the gamecube and have it documented here:

http://club.ign.com/b/list/custom?&o...1=20113&objt=1

I would recommend every one of those, except for some of the sports titles (like Virtua Striker 2002) and Shadow the Hedgehog/Sonic Riders (worst games ever). Everything on there I enjoy having in my Gamecube collection.

Super Mario Strikers.

If you own a Wii, then you might get half the wins. I'll probably take them all.

Thanks for the list Dyne. I'll check some of those out.

If it seems like too big a list, just grab a handful of games you might be interested in and ask about them. I can also recommend some randomly based on your interests.

I would love to sit here all day and write reviews for all of them, but I don't have the time. :(

Re: Recommendations for GC games

My GameCube collection is quite small and of what I have not all are great.

My three top picks: Animal Crossing probably got the most playtime and was my first game for the system. But with the DS one out and probably a Wii one coming it's up to you. The GC completely burned me out on the DS one making it far less enjoyable than someone who went into it fresh. Wind Waker is a must-have IMO. One of the most beautiful and fun games out there. People complain about the so-called "collect-a-thon" and many seem to never finish, but I went through twice and loved it both times. And my third game I absolutely love is F-Zero GX. It's perfect. I cannot think of any way to improve upon the game other than perhaps online and a track editor. Mighty Typhoon FTW! :)

Others:
Metroid Prime: I love the exploring and puzzle aspects but was personally turned off by the fighting. I never finished it.
Sonic Mega Collection: All Genesis Sonics. It was something I needed. My Genesis brought I was a huge Sonic fan. Oh how Sega destroyed my beloved hedgehog in these modern times.
Ikaruga: Quite fun. Drove me insane trying to combo through all the levels rather that mindlessly killing everything.
Viewtiful Joe: Also quite good. Um, yeah...nice game.
Mario Kart Doube Dash: Another game people complained about. It was my most played game with my roommates at college. Heads and tails over previous versions IMO. Although switching behind playing that and MKDS severely messed me up with the controling so different.
Pikmin 2: I wished I played more of this. My cube went into retirement after I transfered colleges and no longer have a tv to play my cube one. I bought it right before this. Once I get my Wii this shall be the first cube game I go back to.

There are a ton of good Cube games.
Contrary to popular belief.

Some of the ones you should try

Zelda, MArio, Metroid, but you know.

But others include.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Mario Power Tennis
Super Mario Strikers
Baten Kaitos
Tales of Symphonia
Skies of Arcadia Legends (If haven't played on DC)
Legos Star Wars is an awesome game. Well II haven't tried one. Would wait for price drop.
Though not everyone agree, I actually enjoyed Geist and if you can find for cheap.
Resident Evil 4 is an awesome awesome game.

Those are the ones know off the top of my head.

Re: Recommendations for GC games

I've always been a fan of the Extreme G series. Is #3 any good? Anybody have any experience with it?

F-Zero Gx looks pretty good. Looks very similar to Extreme-G I think. And I do always play as Captian Falcon when I play Super Smash Bros....
