Zelda Mirrored
![]() Seems as though they flipped the entire game to make Link right-handed. That's so...odd. |
Re: Zelda Mirrored
That'll really be weird if you play both versions, since the GCN version still has a left handed Link...
/me shrugs and walks away |
Re: Zelda Mirrored
If you look at the two maps, they're also slightly different, despite being reversed.
|
Re: Zelda Mirrored
So thats why it took a year, just to mirror the game from GCN and Wii :p
|
Re: Zelda Mirrored
Could it be that the images are just mirrored? I've seen that happen before with preview material... Well, in movies at least (in the cheesy Silent Hill movie TV spots, as Dark Alessa says "I am the Reaper", she's on the left side of the screen facing right... In the actual movie she's on the right facing left)...
If they really did mirror the whole game... Then... Well... What about the left-handed people? :sneaky: |

It's just a gimmick to get you to buy both the Gamecube and Wii version.

So... This begs the question... Why not just flip (or edit/remake) Link's character model instead of y'know... Flipping the entire game? Perhaps it's just that one area? Perhaps our written language has evolved and now has the power to correct itself when mirrored? |
Re: Zelda Mirrored
Maybe Link just has to go back through that area? Or the screenshot was just taken while Link was turned around? It could, perhaps, be symmetrical.
Or maybe there's just a very very similar area... Unless they say, "We switched the whole game" or someone plays both and realizes its been switched, I would think it'd be safer to assume it hasn't been flipped around... /me shrugs and walks away |
Re: Zelda Mirrored
Maybe it's like a race game; after you beat the game you unlock "mirror" mode as a cheap form of replay! YAY
But, look at the mini-map. Yes, the Wii version is mirrored on the Y-axis, but there's more to it than just that: rather than having the area exit be north, it now exits to the northeast. Perhaps the layout change was made to fit with the next area's entry (i.e. entry from the southwest). And, to justify the mirroring, perhaps the northeast part of the map was unaccessable under the original design, and that it was easier to mirror the small area rather than reconstruct the northern section. AND, maybe they couldn't have altered the northern part of the map even if they wanted to, due to some sort of puzzle... such as mirrors. (, sorry) |
Re: Zelda Mirrored
I think it's silly to think that they'd flip everything in a game to make Link right handed.
'Tis silliness, I declare! |
Re: Zelda Mirrored
It actually does make sense...in a stupid last minute attempt sort of way. If only his model was mirrored he would interact with everything differently and could cause problems, like in sword fighting with baddies, or certain puzzles. Not to mention cut scenes would be screwed up and would have to be reversed as well or there would be a ton of continuity errors like his hair part changing back and forth between in-game and cutscenes. But Midna's broken helmet with the one eye revealed has been shown to be the reverse of what it originally was so they did infact seem to have mirrored the entire game.
What's odd is it seems the cube version did not get this same treatment, so the two versions are that much different now. And even odder the cube version in only schedualed to be released in North America at this time, and not Japan or Europe. |

But about the Cube version... Have there been any recent pictures of the game? I can't seen to find any that have been released since E3... So I can't quite see how you've come to the conclusion that the GC version hasn't also been mirrored (assume the Wii version actually has been)... *nod* |

Well, I also got the Cube for Resident Evil 4 and StarCraft: Ghost, but Ghost got cancelled (first for the Cube, then for everything), and I beat Resident Evil 4 several times at my fiance's (her brother got the game). My Cube has seen less use than when I had an XBox. |
