Book recommendations for thesis project
My main project this year is to create a 16 page comic based on already described imaginary locations, or actual locations used in historical or fictional narratives.
I have seven weeks to declare a project so I'm trying to read as many books as I can in that period to pick something. Can anyone recommend any books that take place in some interesting locations; something you would like to see visually that the author described? |
Re: Book recommendations for thesis project
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card...definetly a must read!
takes place on earth as well as in space... |

Do the Iliad or the Odyssey

Re: Book recommendations for thesis project
Well I guess I'll tell you about the book I'm reading now.
The Painted Bird by Jerzy Kosinski. It's a very disturbing and disgusting book. The author uses so much detail that its hard not to imagine the scenes he describes. |
Re: Book recommendations for thesis project
Maybe try 1984? We haven't really seen imaginings of it past the movie, although Terry Gilliam's Brazil was definitely a take on it. And man was brazil crazy and ****ing weird.

Re: Book recommendations for thesis project
Thanks for the recommendations. Turns out for the first book I have to read for another class is 1984 so that works out well. Always meant to read Ender's Game so I guess I shall. Remember the Iliad far more than the Odyssey for some reason. Perhaps I'll reread the latter. Could take place on one of the many places he visits. I'll look in The Painted Bird. Currently reading Fahrenheit 451 for myself. Just started reading but itching to draw that mechanical hound...no one tell me what happens. :) Oh, and love Brazil. :D

I kinda take back what I said about The Painted Bird...
It really is way too gruesome. Yuck. |

I was thinking the same thing. The whole use of the telescreens and the giant posters of BB would be interesting to see. Oh and fahrenheit 451 is a good read, you shall enjoy it! |
