Application error restarts

Ok...for the past couple days my computer has sort of been....restarting on its own. An application erro will pop up saying that

"The instruction at '0x77c478c0' referenced memory at '0x0549f000'. The memory could not be 'read'.

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program"

And which ever one I click willl restart it

I know there has been a thread about something like this before but I wasn't sure if it was the same thing or not.

Any ideas?

there must be a filename in the title bar, that would help to write it down...

hmm I would say its a Random Access Memory error. In other words something wrong with your RAM. I suggest Memtest86 and check your RAM see if it is errored...although Im not best with hardware so someone else may tell you something else.

This ain't good as it's part of the OS it self.

My guess is a spyware infection, I don't think it's hardware related.

1-I would suggest to scan your machine with an up to date AdAware in safe mode.

2-Re-Install your latest service pack.

Reboot with F8 in Safe Mode,

Start -> Run -> type in 'cmd' and a DOS prompt should come up

Type 'sfc /scannow' without the quotes. This utility checks Windows 32 system files and makes sure they are in tact and in their original state.

If any has changed insert your Windows OS CD that came with your computer to copy the original files back.

If the problem was solved, then it was Spyware/Adware...
