I was worried about this movie when I heard Brett ratner was directing, but from that trailer and the buzz that I've heard, it looks like I've been worrying for nothing. Ratner and his producer have been saying all the right things, namely, that he's basically following the precident that Bryan Singer started.

Everyone calm down, here. This is a movie, not the comic book, and there will be changes made. Its inevitable even if for the sole reason that film is not a medium conducive to creating mythos. Mythos is basically what comic books try and create and movies cannot duplicate it, especially in a book that has spanned 40 years, so sacrifices must always be made in the translation.

The point isn't whether or not the movie accurately portrays the book, it whether or not the movie is a good movie on its own. Comic books and movies are two separate mediums with two very different ways of telling a story. If you try and compare them to each other you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

I still think there are still certain limits for a movie adaption. If someone doesn't want those, he should come up with his own franchise.
