Stupid windows..... question
Suddenly my computer requires me to log in. I didn't change any options that I know of and now I can't find out how to change it back.
I want my PC to boot up without me. I am the only user so I don't need those stupid account thingy. No clicking on names, no entering of passwords..... just boot up my PC. Where do I change this? I have found the user accounts options, but no useful option so far. Thanks! And this time I won't answer myself because I'm going to sleep! :) |
Re: Stupid windows..... question
Control Panel
Accounts Pick a task... Change the way users log on or off done... |
Re: Stupid windows..... question
I have the same problem as of late and doing that doesn't help. I either get screen to put in password or screen to click on username. I can't just have computer start up without either of those now and changing how users log on/off only lets switch between those two options.

Same here. Been happening for awhile. |
Re: Stupid windows..... question
Yeah same here. MuGen, that's the first thing I tried, it doesn't help.
Null? :p |
Re: Stupid windows..... question
Normally that happens when you enable a password for your user.
|
Re: Stupid windows..... question
Yes that was going to be my second alternative..
If you set a password for your user / even if it is the only user, it will ask to log in. |
Re: Stupid windows..... question
No password. I'm sure, because I could just hit enter when it asked me for a password.
It happened out of the blue. |
Re: Stupid windows..... question
To reach the RAW control panel for User accounts and check what settings you have click START, then RUN..
type in 'Control Userpasswords2' without the quotes then it should bring up User Account Settings and there should be a checkbox saying "Users must enter username and password to use this computer" Uncheck that.... unfortunately when you go into Control Panel, into User Accounts... they don't have the option to disable it even though... they SHOULD have the option in there.... I guess it's the whole GUI microsoft was trying to go for.... Try that and see if it works. |
Re: Stupid windows..... question
I've changed it, but I don't wanna bother to reboot to check. Thanks a lot, I'm pretty sure this will solve it.
But how could it ever have changed? :( |

Computers are very random machines; this kind of stuff happens all the time. No use being sad over it. :) |

Even worse, it now gives an error. And 1 time the PC just stopped booting up and I had to reset. |
Re: Stupid windows..... question
Bah. It stopped during start-up 3 times in a row, so now I'm operating in safe mode. I switched back the last changed option, I hope that will improve some things.
After that, I'll run some anti-malware etc. |
Re: Stupid windows..... question
It's definitely some sort of program doing this. Changing a general UI option in Windows shouldn't cause an error or cause the computer to have boot problems... if it does then thats a serious bug in Windows...
Hopefully it's not and it's a malware you can remove. |
Re: Stupid windows..... question
More than a year later I still have the same problem. Because I removed some malware a while back, I thought I could try to fix the problem again, but to no avail.
If so many people have this problem, shouldn't we know by now now to fix it? Today I couldn't boot up my PC because I had changed my settings (until I alt-tabbed and found the login screen behínd the bootup screen). |
