Re: New Year 2006
Just got home.
That was an odd day/night/morning. I was going to go to Bronx Zoo with a friend for their new year's celebration thingy but we ended up taking the bus in the opposite direction and by the time we realized it it was too late to go there. So took a train into Manhattan but weren't sure where to go so picked random numbers and decided that was how many stops till we get off and ride another train. After about 4 different trains we ended up near the north tip of Manhattan. Then from there took a train all the way down to the South Street Seaport. Was so empty there. Made wishes by throwing Pepto-bismol tablets into the water. We then decided to ride the ferry to Staten Island for the hell of it. On the way there pass by an empty looking government building. Tried the door. It opened. Completely dark inside but with a light on in a room further back. Debated whether to risk it. Decided not to but then a nearby security guard gave us weird looks. We waited in the waiting area for an hour pretending to meet Fred, a bald chick with a red wig and blond eyebrows wearing a light blue coat. The bitch never showed up. The drug sniffing dog looked quite sad. And I learned that you can find all the information you need in a men's bathroom. They know much in there about the workings of the ferry than the staff. Then took the ferry to Staten Island. Got off. And then got right back on again standing outside in the cold for the ride. Did get a nice glimpse of the Statue of Liberty. Always looks small and squat in person to me. Then decided why not try to get to see the ball drop. Were trying to avoid going to Times Square all night but alas we went. The crowd was the crowdiest of crowds but at least we were much warmer. From where we were we couldn't even see it drop. So then went to Central Park and watched fireworks for a bit. Decided to meet up with some other friends back in Queens so went back. Kinda boring from there. A lot of sitting in car, sitting in my basement, sitting in McDonalds. The Photo game in the kid's corner is quite fun and entertained me and another friend for almost a good hour. And here I am. So bus, bus, E train, B train, D train, A train, 1 train, 2 train, ferry, ferry, 1 train, 2 train, 7 train, car. I would say we raped the MTA. |
