Fox predicts Blu-ray victory.

When PS2 released with the DVD player, people flocked towards it consider they could get a 2 consoles (PSX,PS2) with a DVD player for a bottom dollar price tag for all 3 machines. Now, as Blu-ray goes mainstream people will be flocking towards the PS3 as a safe and cost-effective alternative to buying a individual Blu-ray player. Why not buy PSX, PS2, and PS3 w/ the Blu-ray Player + DVD Player? After looking at what the PS3 will be delivering it terms of hardware mediums, I think a slightly higher price then the Xbox 360 is justified. |

I hope they're right about Blu-ray. That could end up being PS3's trump card.
I'm expecting a $399 price point, with no hard drive. I would stake my reputation on it being no higher. |
Re: Fox predicts Blu-ray victory.
my guess is actually 549$ for a basic package, theres only so much money sony can lose per system, right?

Re: Fox predicts Blu-ray victory.
I don't see people "flocking" to Blu-ray; they just got through replacing their tapes with DVDs. To the mainstream Blu-ray and DVDs are both discs. DVDs were a huge step beyond VHS...not just quality but in use and storage. CDs reached the market in 1982 but didn't even become popular until the 90's. DVDs came out in 1996. PS2 came out four years later. It was then that DVDs started to become the norm. The only way I see Blu-ray replacing DVDs anytime soon is if companies stop making DVDs and forcing consumers to buy Blu-ray.
