Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door

I know this is old, but has anybody played this? It's pretty damn fun, I just bought it a week ago.

It's funny coz I haven't touched my consoles for ages, and then suddenly I'm looking for games to play, and the only ones I want are on GC. I wanna get RE4 too.

Both my brother and my girlfriend have bought it and neither have finished it.

Apparently it's too long.

I didn't like the original Paper Mario. Bring me back the glory days of Super Mario RPG, and nothing like Superstar Saga.

I loved the original. Infact I just beat it again this summer. Oh Sushi, you're so awesome.

too long hey?

Didn't know it was really long. So how many hours have you been playing it 4?

My girlfriend has taken 30 hours with it and is wondering where the final boss is.

My brother is at 60 hours and he's just given up on it.

I myself only played it for an hour but I didn't see any value in putting in that many hours.

I just loaded it up to see how long I was at and wound up restarting the game and playing for three hours. God it's freaking great. I finished the game at 26 hours, and it was worth every second.

I loved it.

For me, yeah it was too long, but only because I was renting it. I rented it the first thinking 'Oh yeah, Paper Mario, pffff I'll be able to beat it within two rentals at most'....... welllll, three rentals and some 36-40 hours later I still hadn't beat it and I had to return it unfinished. I mean, I would spend all my free time playing this game because I felt like I had to rush and finish it before the rental was up, so I didn't do anything but work and then come home and play this game for three weeks. That's not how I like to live.

But, if I had just bought it in the first place, it would be a perfect length. Something I could spend all summer playing off and on. It is really long if you go for all the extra sidequests, which I like to do. But if you skip most of them you can finish it much quicker I gather.

About sidequests: does anyone else feel like less of a gamer if they don't finish all the sidequests? I mean, I would still beat the game, but all those meaningless sidequests that I wouldn't have finished weigh on the back of my mind telling me, 'NO! You didn't really finish it! Play us again!' Unhealthy......

Don't worry about sidequests. I beat Tales of Symphonia with my brother without any sidequests done and I'm not much more of a person than I could be. And I still love Tales of Symphonia to death.

Yeah I don't see how the game is too long. If anything, I wanted more of it.

I love the two Paper Marios, and never see what people see in Super Mario RPG but thats just me.

I believe it took me around 30 hours, cant remember the exact number. It was a great game, no doubt about it. And I got it a few months ago for 20 bucks. :D

Well, it took me about 50 hours my first play-through (I love finding everything along the way), and IMO, this is RPG is outshined only by Tales of Symphonia last year. Everything works- the combat system, the humor, the pacing...perfect.

Even the replay is great, in getting an extra character, and completing that insanely hard pit of 100 trials...just gruesome, yet challenging and fun.

I had a really good time playing this one last year, and I hope Nintendo has a sequel already drummed up for Revolution launch.
